Punch & Judy - Free Performances at New Bern Academy Museum
The free performances are being underwritten by a grant from the Harold H. Bate Foundation. Schedule: 10 a.m. June 18 and 25, July 23 and 30, and August 20 and 27 at the New Bern Academy, located at the corner of Hancock and New Streets.

4th of July - Reading of the Declaration of Independence. Gardens open free to the public.
Come join us in our day long celebration! Activities include: Punch & Judy Puppet Shows 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. The annual Declaration of Independence reading will take place at 11 a.m. A horse drawn carriage and musket escort will bring the reader to the Palace steps. A drum and fife corps from Camp Flintlock will create a musical escort. Lemonade and cookies will be served in the Stable Office following the reading. Special activities include lawn bowling in the Palace courtyard, and basket making demonstrations by the Kitchen Office. Children will also learn how to make corn husk dolls in the backyard of the Hay House.
