Z39.50 protocol compliant clients will need to be installed according to these instructions.
KineticaWeb and Libraries Australia
Recommended Web browser versions for access to the KineticaWeb Service are versions of Internet Explorer 5.5 and above, as well as versions of Netscape 4.79 and above.
KineticaWeb may still operate effectively with earlier versions of the Internet Explorer and Netscape browsers, but these will not be tested for compatibility with new software releases.
Document Delivery access
Access to the Kinetica Document Delivery Service is via the World Wide Web for all functions. The KDD Web interface has been successfully tested on Internet Explorer 5.5 abd 6, and Netscape 6 and 7. Earlier versions of these browsers may work adequately with KDD, but there are known problems with Netscape 4.08 and 4.7.
Recommended browser versions for Macintosh users are Internet Explorer 5.1 and 5.2, and Netscape 6.2.
Kinetica Client
The Kinetica Client is the windows-based software which enables you to catalogue online. It uses client/server architecture. The minimum requirement for a PC to run the Kinetica Client is:
- 486 or Pentium 100 or greater
- a CD driver
- 32 MB of Memory
- Windows 95 or Windows NT
- a total of 50mb storage for the following software: AMICUS, INGRES (Openroad), ORACLE, REPORTS
- a screen resolution of 800 x 600 pixels.
The recommended configuration is:
- IBM PC type 350
- P-500Mhz
- 128 MB RAM
- 256 L2 Cache
- 1GB Busmaster Enhanced IDE Hard-disk
The following communication protocols are used by the Client:
Host name: Catclient.kinetica.nla.gov.au
Host IP addresses:
- 202.6.91.129 on port 1521 sql*net protocol. Session Initiation is from the user site.
- 202.6.91.133 on port 1835 for apm and port 1837 for colgate. Session Initiation is from the user site.
To use the help function on the Kinetica Client you need Internet Explorer.
