The beautiful lanes along the South shore of the Helford River are narrow with blind bends, high hedges, and sudden gradients, with glimpses down into the Helford's many side creeks.

The softer, greener landscape of the Helford River with its creeks and inlets, provides another face of this beautiful region. The charming coves of Gillan and Flushing offer safe bathing and sailing tuition and boat hire is available at nearby St Anthony. There are superb cliff walks over National Trust land to the tiny fishing village of Porthallow with its shingle beach, Five Pilchards Pub, Art & Craft shop and tea room.
