| The Charles F. Chapman Memorial Award was established in 1977 by the national association of the boating industry and MotorBoating & Sailing magazine in memory of the magazine’s former editor and publisher, who died in March of 1976. It honors individuals or groups within the marine industry who have made outstanding contributions to the sport of boating for the benefit of the recreational boating industry and boating public. The award, presented each year during the Miami International Boat Show, consists of a medallion and one thousand dollars ($1,000) to be donated to a worthy marine-oriented organization of the recipient’s choice. |

| The Directors’ Award recognizes an individual who best communicates the pleasures of recreational boating to non-traditional boating audiences through newspaper or magazine articles, radio or television programming, films, books or widespread electronic methods. The work of a journalist, artist, photographer, editor or broadcaster during the period from January 1, 2004 through December 31, 2004, was considered for the award. |

NMMA has honored several boat and engine manufacturers by naming them as recipients of the 2004 Marine Industry CSI Award for Excellence in Customer Satisfaction.
The CSI Award Program recognizes participating companies that have actively measured customer satisfaction to pursue continuous improvement. Award recipients must have achieved and maintained an independently-measured standard of excellence of 90 percent or higher in customer satisfaction over the past year, based on information provided by more than 50,000 consumers who have purchased a new boat or engine.
NMMA launched the Marine Industry CSI program in 2001 to provide boat/engine manufacturers a tool to increase customer satisfaction in the boating industry. Since the program’s inception, more than 300,000 surveys have been sent to new boat and engine customers, allowing participating manufacturer companies to monitor customer satisfaction on an ongoing basis, and to benchmark themselves against others in the marine industry.
