BIG BEND - SPECIALTY TRIPS Gourmet
"Thousands of tired,
nerve-shaken, over civilized people are beginning to find out that going to the
mountain is going home
..and that mountains, parks and reservations are
useful
as fountains of life" -- John Muir
In partnership with Crumpets Restaurant of San Antonio since 1988!

On a
very special expedition between the Far Flung Outdoor Center and Francois
Maeder of San Antonio's Crumpets Restaurant. Guests will be treated to a
three-day rafting trip through one of the spectacular canyons of the Rio Grande
in Big Bend National Park. Mr. Maeder is one of Texas' foremost practitioners
of Nouvelle Cuisine; imaginative and unexpected combinations of ingredients,
served with color and flair. Francois will provide a menu derived from his
famous classic international cuisine. On a Gourmet Float Trip, participants
will be treated to meals including such delights as marinated shrimp, veal,
rack of lamb, quail, Beef Wellington, or duck.
We dine in comfortable chairs at linen covered
tables, eat from china and drink fine wine out of glass stemware. On most
trips, live music around the campfire is served along with desert, brandy, and
coffee. Anyone who thinks camping out means roughing it is in for a big
surprise!
