We got going at 4:00 on this day of 10 kph variable winds going to my next favorite buoy. No signs of life at the buoy so we kept going out to 30 miles where we took a marlin hit that came off, then it came back and hit the other rigger and came off too, bummer. We found some birds working at 35 miles out and worked them but got no hits. Then we found an open school of mahi and saw one but it would not bite. We came in at a different buoy and jigged and caught an aku and ran it live, as usual a shark and his friends came in and we had one on but it came off. Then we baited and Scot hooked a few shibi. No hits on the way in. In the harbor Jeremy gave it a go to eat an eyeball but it came back, nice try. Good going guys. Aloha Capt Rusty

We got going at 7:00 on this day of 15 kph trades going to my favorite buoy. We got a small mahi on our first pass at the buoy, then we jigged and lost a few aku and got a few. We ran one live and a shark out of the pack of 7 of them ate one and it was on. Daniel made quick work of that shark we tagged it and let it go. When we baited the sharks followed us around like a pack of wolves, a mahi showed up and Scot baited it up and Nestor reeled it in, and at the same time we had a shark on and we got them both. One more shark got too close and we got it too. No hits on the way in. These folks did great on all these fish today, good going . Aloha Capt Rusty

We got going at 4:30 on this day of 15 kph trades going to my next favorite buoy. On our second pass at the buoy we hooked a 20 pound shibi on the center and Mark got it. Then we jigged and got a few aku and ran one, a shark came in promptley and ate it and we had it on. Mike got to battle this one and got it to the boat in about 15 minutes. Then we set up to troll and took a mahi hit near the buoy and got it. On the way in we had an ono hit just outside the harbor, but it came off right away. In the harbor only I was game to throw an eyeball in the air and catch it in my mouth. These guys did great today. Aloha Capt Rusty

We got going at 4:30 on this day of 10 kph trades going to my next favorite buoy. As we got near the buoy we had a marlin hit the rigger then hit the center 3 times before it hooked up solidly and screamed out 400 yards of line jumping alot. Brad had it back to the boat in about 25 minutes, where it was easy at gaff. At the buoy we jigged and caught some aku and shibi and ran them live, before long a shark was on it and hooked up, but broke off after a good fight. Next we got a shark on a wire and Greg reeled it in and we tagged it and let it go. Then we had a shark hookup on 60 and Brad reeled it in and we let it go too. These folks did good today. Aloha Capt Rusty

We got going at 7:30 on this day of 20 kph trades going to my favorite buoy. At the buoy we jigged and caught some aku and shibi and ran one live. A shark showed up when we baited and Scot hooked it on a wire and JC reeled it in and we let it go. Then a mahi showed up and on our next bait pass Scot hooked it on 80 and Marlu got to reel it in. Then we got a few more shibi on bait too. Then we set up and trolled the buoy area before we headed in. In the harbor both Marlu and JC ate shibi eyes gladly, I like it. These folks did great today. Aloha Capt Rusty

Click to enlarge Click to enlarge  Jon Schneider caught 13 mahi 1 ono and 8 aku and shibi
We got going at 4:30 on this day of 20 kph trades going to my far away favorite buoy. At the buoy we jigged and the first aku we got was followed in by a few  mahi and sharks, Scot baited up some mahi and fed the sharks. When we baited we got a few mahi and some shibi, it was some fast action with Jon hooking some too. When it slowed down we set up and trolled, Scot was still setting lines when a marlin hit the corner lure and screamed 30 yards and came off, bummer. Then we found some birds and took and ono hit and we got it. Going back we found a small net and got a few more mahi there. Then on our way in we had a marlin come in and hit the short center and take out 300 yards of line and never jump once. Jon had it more than half way in and it came off the hook, double bummer. In the harbor Jon and I both had some shibi eyes. Great job Jon, see you next year. Aloha Capt Rusty

Before long a shark came in and ate one and we had it on, Bob reeled it in and we tagged and released it. Then we baited and Scot was hooking some small shibi when we got a call to go tow a disabled boat in from 22 miles out. We trolled while towing but got no hits. These folks did great today. We got going at 4:30 on this day of 20 kph trades going to my next favorite buoy. At the buoy we jigged and got nothing, we baited and got nothing, so we jigged one more timeand got 2 small aku. So we set up and went to a different buoy, as we got near it we took a marlin hit that screamed out 300 yards of line jumped and came off, bummer. At the buoy we ran a dead aku and a marlin came around and looked at our aku but did not eat it. Jon baited up a shibi and we ran it live, then a shark and 2 mahi came in and we got all three of them on and got all 3, It was wild action for awhile there. Then on our way in we had one more marlin hit the rigger and then come off after pulling 20 yards of line out. Jon is an avid angler and a regular with us, he did great today on this big 37 pound mahi on 80 no leader. Aloha Capt Rusty

Click to enlarge Click to enlarge  The Champlain Family Dana, Bryan, Shelby, and Susan caught 2 mahi 2 sharks 2 aku and 2 shibi
We got going at 4:30 on this day of 20 kph trades going to my favorite buoy. No hits so we jigged and lost a few aku to the sharks, when we got one we ran it live. For a change a couple of mahi came in on the aku and we baited up one of them. Then we baited and hooked  2 sharks on 80 pound test and tagged one and let it go, the other one got close to the boat and broke line. We had a few more sharks on that came off. We had another mahi follow us and we baited it up and got it too. The aku and shibi were not cooperating very well today. These folks did a great job today on these fish. Back in the harbor everyone except Susan was bold enough to eat an eyeball, I like it. Good going. Aloha Capt Rusty
