Rogue River Gold Rey Dam Fish Count 1-800-472-2434 Elk River Hatchery Report 541-332-7025 | ||
Fresh Rogue River King Salmon Arrive at Gold Beach!![]() The Estuary of the Rogue River is full of Fall Chinook! The bay is full and there are good numbers moving upriver. Counts through the seiening project at Huntly Park are high. Don't know what else to say their here and your not! But you can change part of that. 8/9/05 Real Good Action Starting at Gold Beach on the Lower Rogue River! Good numbers of Kings bening caught on the tides. We landed 4 fish for two fisherman today with 3 being just at or over 30# and the 4th fish at 23#. We had one double landing both to complete our day early. I don't know what else to say. Fish On! Give us a call we still have some dates open 1-800-348-4138 8/2/05 Every day brings better Fall King Salmon fishing to the Rogue River at Gold Beach! Kings to 30# and over are common in catches. Sea Lions have been a problem stalking boats with fish on. Best bet to beat these pests is hope several fish are hooked up at once which is happening. It hard to believe there will not be some large floating bodies in the surf if this continues to be a problem. The Rogue is not very crowded so far this year and a very good day was had on the 1st of August with some boats flirting with limit. One of the local guides fishing 3 rods had a triple hook up. With Summer time temperatures the waters of the Rogue River have begun to warm enough to slow or stop up river King Salmon migration as happens every year. River flows have dropped 1000 cfs at the Agness river gage, 30 miles upriver from Gold Beach where river temperatures are now at about 72 degrees in the afternoon. River flow is 2700 cfs (4th of Julu) with forecast of flows dropping to 2000 this next week. What this means for the Salmon fisherman is, Kings will stack up with every day more Kings holding in the cool estuarian waters of the Rogue Bay. There are Kings being caught now even though pressure is low and it is early. This set up of water conditions happens every year at this time of year and we are right on schedual. We are expecting a great year here in the Rogue Bay as the Ocean Salmon fishery has been drastically cut due to a die off 4 years ago in the Klamath River 65 miles to our south. Ocean harvest managers have cut the Ocean season in our area (Klamath Management Zone) from being open from May to Sept. last year to closing on the 5th of July this year. This will be bad for Ocean fishermen but great for in-river Salmon fishing as many more Kings and Silvers will reach the river. The Rogue River estuary at Gold Beach is the best bet for King Salmon fishing on the entire coast, you can bet on it! Give us a call and we will get you out catch'n nice Rogue River King Salmon. 1-800-348-4138 |
