Stannard Rock Trophy Lake Trout
01 Jun 2005 to 30 Aug 2005
Stannard Rock Reef is an underwater mountain range in mid Lake Superior that arises from depths of over 600 ft. right up to the surface in this cold water habitat of the Mackinaw Lake Trout. This area is loaded with schools of this beautiful fish that has been caught over 60 lbs. out here and several in the 20-30 range are caught every year. Ad the fact that we catch them on light tackle(We use G-Loomis rods and Shimano Reels) it makes for an exciting trip. We either jig vertically in depths up to 200 ft. or cast spoons in the shallower water. In both cases we supply all of the fishing gear except fly fishing equipment if you want to catch them on flies.
The trip out takes about 2 hours as the Rock is 40 miles north of Marquette. We fish for 6 hours and then return to the Harbor after 10 hours on the water. On your trip we supply all the fishing gear, jigs, spoons, and bait. We provide your lunch and refreshments and see that your fish is cleaned and processed on
return.
