How do I change my email settings in Netscape 6?

Important: It is not possible to change the server setting in Netscape6.

The only way to change these setting is to create a new account, then transfer all your email from the existing account, and delete the old account. The following are the steps to complete this task.

1. Open your Netscape browser
   
2. Click on the mail icon to open the email inbox
   

   

3. From the Inbox screen click on Edit then the Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings
   

   

4. That will display the following screen.
   

   

5. Click on the New Account button
   

   

6. Ensure the black dot is inside the circle next to the line ISP or email provider, then click the Next button.
   

   

7. Complete the following blocks
   a. Enter your name in the block labeled Your Name:.
   b. Enter your email address in the block labeled Email Address:
   c. Click the Next button
   

   

8. Complete the following areas on this screen
   a. Ensure the black dot is inside the white circle next to the word POP
   b. In the block labeled Server Name: enter mail.gci.net
   c. If the smtp block does not show smtp.gci.net as your out going server we will change that in step 12.
   d. Click the Next button
   
   

   

9. Enter your email user name and click the Next button. The username is normally the first part of your email address before the @ symbol.
   

   

10. Enter a name for this account, then click the Next button. This will allow you to identify each account if you establish multiple email accounts using Netscape 6.
    

    

11. Verify the data on the screen and click finish. If the Outgoing Server Name is not correct go to step 12, if all information is correct go to step 13.
    

    

12. If the Outgoing Server is not smtp.gci.net then please follow the following steps.
    a. From the inbox click Edit then Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings
    

    

    
    b. Click on the Outgoing Server (SMTP)
    

    

c. Ensure the Server name is: smtp.gci.net
d. Enter your username
e. Ensure the Never button has the black dot in it.
f. Click the OK button





13. Click on the Inbox from your Rogershsa email account, select edit, then select all. Select edit again and copy.
    
14. Click on your new Inbox created for the GCI account click Edit and Paste.
    
15. You may now remove your old email account.
