Search Engine Optimization Projects
It is really the case that Search Engine Optimization includes a great many things that a few years ago were not considered mandatory. Today, to succeed in any SEO project you need to include some broader SEO tasks: keyword research, page edits, link development, competitor spam management, reporting and analysis, PPC trends and recovery plans, formal classroom training classes on SEO, many advanced software tools, and much more. In other words, you need to be a well-rounded SEO company. We have designed services that include ALL of these components as standard features, and exceed the service offerings found at most other companies in each area. We have full-time dedicated technical support as well as separate program management staff to make sure we are exceeding the service needs of our clients, and multiple teams of technicians that know SEO inside out. Hiring a SEO company that does the complete job, teaches the SEO job, offers advanced tools to aid with the SEO job, and who have presented at dozens of SEO conferences as industry recognized experts since 1999 places us as one of the top firms in the world.
Our services are tailored to the audience reach of the client. For instance, it is sometimes right for a SEO company to offer large clients a combination of multi-national or national site Search Engine Optimization and on-site training. Likewise, many of the clients we serve are local, with very specific geo-targeted needs where a finely focused project (also a less expensive project) is the appropriate solution. Our SEO company offers something for everybody as long as the project makes sense.
How we estimate has little to do with "sites", it has more to do with "units of work". We estimate "units of work" based upon the number of pages, keywords, and competition, then estimate the hours to perform the work, then offer a fixed bid for that work. However, our SEO company offers a price break for long-term projects on large sites.
Our SEO company will NOT spam anybody, especially the search engines, and we ABSOLUTELY adhere to the guidelines specified by the major search engines concerning allowable Search Engine Optimization practices.
SEO Company Services Performed By Bruce Clay, Inc.
We will provide our best efforts without any guarantee to obtain high organic rankings for your selected web sites with the following major search engines: AltaVista, AOL Web Search, Ask Jeeves, Teoma, AllTheWeb, Google, HotBot, Inktomi, IWon, Lycos, MSN, NetScape Search, Open Directory (dmoz), Yahoo Directory, and Yahoo Index (the "Search Engines").
SEO Company Services specifically include:
- Research and finalization of the keywords to be used in the promotion of the above web pages. This includes the identification of high-traffic keywords and selection of case, singular/plural, and tense for each keyword phrase. Likewise, we will research and select appropriate categories for submission to each directory.
- Revising existing Client pages to be optimized for the Search Engines. This is an iterative process that may involve many versions for each page. This includes a detailed review and alteration of the title, description, keywords, headings, comments, image alts, and link tags, and the text appearing in the body of the page. It also includes the insertion of popularity linkage technology to improve search engine spider navigation and rankings. This may involve adding visible text to various pages consistent with current design.
- Content review as appropriate to suggest keyword density, frequency, and distribution throughout your content. In some cases it may be appropriate to create additional site pages focused on specific content. In many cases it will be appropriate to revise content structure to comply with search engine and directory requirements.
- Incorporation of Dynamic Site MappingTM technology to facilitate site mapping and traffic reporting. This technology will facilitate the search engine spider crawling of dynamic, frames, and very large static web sites.
- Incorporation of LinkMapsTM technology to facilitate the indexing of sites that link to your site (popularity).
- Incorporation of PathMapsTM technology to facilitate the monitoring of traffic to Client's site (visitors).
- Submission of revised Client pages to each of the monitored Search Engines and directories. This is a manual process and is performed at least twice per month. Directory submissions will occur with prior approval of Client.
- Link recommendations will be provided to Client. These recommendations will be of sites already identified as linking to top sites for the Client keywords and that are candidates for adding links to the Client site.
- Online access to proprietary Ranking Reports at least twice per month showing the ranking of the Client web site in the monitored Search Engines and directories. Rankings will show where the top ranked page from the Client site(s) appear in the top 50 positions for the selected search engines and directories.
- Online access to proprietary Competition Ranking Reports at least twice per month showing the ranking of the competing web sites in the monitored Search Engines and directories for each client keyword.
- Links: We will solicit reasonable links to target pages within client site from keyword-associated and appropriate research sites. (We will NOT participate in any LinkFarm or similarly deceptive linking scheme). Links under this program will be selected directories and resource sites willing to participate in one-way or reciprocal link exchange programs.
- Training: As a part of the SEO Services, one employee from Client may attend our SEO Training Course course at our Southern California training facility.
- Review of Ranking Reports to determine if the above Web Site Pages require revisions or submission activity and if so, then those services are provided. This includes the performance of all above services should rankings be significantly lowered during the contract period.
- National or multi-national projects include a program manager review and verbal status discussion with client staff at least twice each month. During these calls the client is fully briefed on the progress made and the next steps in the project. [local projects include email communications since they are at a greatly reduced fee.]
Bruce Clay, Inc. agrees to render services reasonably necessary to obtain this result. Upon completion of rankings by the Search Engines, our SEO company will continue to regularly monitor Client's Web Site Pages for the term of this Agreement.

Support Performed By Client
Client agrees to provide reasonable support when upgrading Client web site pages with Bruce Clay, Inc. provided additions or changes. This support includes, but is not limited to:
- Constructing web pages containing code to aid in Search Engine Optimization as defined by Bruce Clay, Inc.
- Uploading files in a prompt manner when provided by Bruce Clay, Inc.
- Testing and approving changes provided by Bruce Clay, Inc.
- Providing reasonable notification to Bruce Clay, Inc. of any changes to the Web Site Pages initiated by Client
- If programming of dynamic pages is required to integrate Bruce Clay, Inc. changes, all changes will be performed by Client staff in a timely and complete manner
- Client is responsible for providing server space and directories as defined by Bruce Clay, Inc. to hold pages associated with SEO efforts
- Client is responsible for providing a unique IP address for each promoted web site home page
- Client is responsible for providing the Bruce Clay, Inc. with FTP access to the Client web site unless determined inappropriate by Client policy
- Client shall participate in, pay for, and manage all positioning opportunities when associated with the pay-per-click Search Engines and keywords. Client shall approve and pay for all appropriate directory and search engine index submissions.
LOCAL PRICING
At a local level we offer a reduced-fee program that covers five pages from the client site. The client will provide a geographic area (region) name [usually a city], their company name, with nine generic keywords to be used only in combination with the region and company name, their domain name, and the site owner name for a total of about twenty keywords. The generic keywords are NEVER optimized alone - they are only used in combination with region or company (i.e., "las vegas" and "hotels" will ONLY result in "las vegas hotels" as a keyword, never "hotels" by itself). We will optimize the client site with these keywords in a manner that allows combinations of these words to be located in the search engines. We will also submit the site to local directories (some may involve additional fees such as Yahoo!) and seek free links from other sites within the region. Note that if you want generic keyword Search Engine Optimization then your project is not local and you should review "National" pricing and services.
Local projects cover 20 localized keyword phrases for a minimum term of 12 months, first and last month payment due at time of signing. American Express, Mastercard or Visa required for automatic billing.
NATIONAL PRICING
At a national level we offer a fixed-fee program that covers six (smallest project) or more pages (common projects are 12+ pages) from the client site. We will optimize the client site with generic keyword phrases appropriate for the content of the client site in a manner that allows combinations of these words to be located in the search engines. As part of this program we will also research and acquire approximately twenty-five appropriate inbound links based upon your target keywords. We also include a seat in our SEO Training Course held regularly at our Southern California facility.
National projects involve thirty or more generic terms and require that several pages from your site be individually tuned and submitted. Our projects expand to fit your needs. Rates vary to include content development, link development, and technical Search Engine Optimization as appropriate to the user site.
MULTI-NATIONAL PRICING
At a multi-national level we offer a fixed-fee program that covers twelve or more pages from the client site. We will optimize the client site with generic keyword phrases appropriate for the content of the client site in a manner that allows combinations of these words to be located in the search engines. We will also submit this site to six additional english-accepting international search engines. As part of this program we will also research and acquire approximately twenty-five appropriate inbound links based upon your target keywords. We also include a seat in our SEO Training Course held regularly at our Southern California facility.
Multi-national projects involve sixty or more generic terms and require that several pages from your site be individually tuned and submitted. These projects will also include monthly submission to six international search engines as well as foreign versions of the major engines. Multi-national projects expand to fit the number of pages and keywords, but are commonly $3600 per month.
Discounts per client will be applied for larger projects, commonly ten percent for twelve pages or more, with a maximum discount of twenty percent for projects of twenty-four or more pages. Clients optimizing four six-page domains will qualify for the twenty-four page discount.
"I get ok search engine placement, but it could be a lot better. A lot better would mean more prospects and more sales. At this time, I'm at a crossroads of sorts. I've completely redesigned my website for the first time in over two years. The new site is ready to go live, but my greatest fear is that my search engine visibility and rankings will go down as a result of the changes to the site.You don't have to sell me on the value of Bruce Clay, Inc.'s time. I've done my share of consulting. My company is very small. In fact, right now I'm the only full-time employee. So although I could buy some site registration software, or manually follow the steps you outline on this site, I simply don't have the time and am not interested in experiencing the learning curve.
For your typical consulting fee, I could take out a half-page ad in a national trade magazine that would run one time and be quickly forgotten. Obviously, that would be a complete waste of money, unless I ran the ad every month or two, which I cannot afford.

Our most common SEO company project has an average cost of about $2 per day per keyword (your mileage may vary). If you cannot generate ten times that per day in additional business by being found more often in the search engines, what are you even doing on the Internet? Also note that at these daily rates that you cannot train and pay a competent employee to perform these tasks!
Custom projects are available to fit any needs! You may want to have your staff do the work, but utilizing our advanced tools and techniques. In such cases we would develop a training, technology, and consulting quote for your site. Whatever your needs, we can meet them.
Using this information, you should be able to calculate your costs for almost any number of pages. As discussed, the more pages we promote, the broader (more engines) and higher (better) your ranking will be.
Once your site is ranked, you certainly want to make sure your ranking is not lost. Sometimes a site will fall off of the engines and it needs to be resubmitted. If that does not replace the page we determine the cause. If trivial, we just fix it. If a major problem (usually a major change in the search engine algorithm or data base technology itself), then it is likely to require significant effort to regain that ranking. Also, your regular revisions to the site might require a quick tweak to keep things right. Losing the placement we have worked hard to obtain is not desired, and regular attention to rankings is important. It is just nice to be on top of things.
If you do not wish a fixed-fee project, hourly rates may be used: Labor: $400.00US per hour plus expenses. Complex and often far exceeding the fixed-fee bid.
Link Request Projects
The process for obtaining a link is non-trivial. We research each site so that we can identify the individual page where we would like the link, write the text for the link as we would like it and as fits within the context of the target site, and then issue a well written professional plea for a link. On occasion there will be two or more requests needed before there is a reply from the site. The process can clearly take a lot of time and effort, and is best accomplished by personnel who know the web and how to design web sites. Also consider that many links may be from specialized directories, some are one-way inbound links if your content is sufficient and appropriate, and some will be reciprocal.
As a result, EACH link request submission takes an average of 15 minutes. There are a great many sites on the web that would be appropriate for a link. We would need to pick these sites in groups of 60 and do them in one group at a time. At 4 link requests per hour, each group of 60 would require 15 to 18 hours. Properly done, we would want to be listed in as many sites as possible. This would be billed as link request groups are begun, and thus this is a flat rate task. Contact us for a specific quote.
One thing is certain, as a part of this project we will expect that the Client perform this task, or that we perform this task under contract, but it must be performed. Virtually every engine includes "popularity" in their algorithm, so without links you are at a major disadvantage when it comes to search engine ranking.

SEO Training Projects
We offer SEO training classes for clients covering our tools and methodologies. These classes are held at our Southern California facility for small groups and are designed to be highly interactive, frequently covering specifics of client sites and often taking on a "consulting" atmosphere.

PPC Management Projects
We offer PPC Management services for clients in conjunction with an organic SEO project. It is one thing to watch other PPC bidders, we go the extra step. We also monitor your organic ranking so that we can diminish your bids when organic rankings appear on the same results page.

Consulting Projects
We offer pure Consulting projects. Such projects are personally arranged with Bruce Clay and can occur at any facility. Our consulting rates are negotiable -- need more time = get better rate. Consulting is available in 1 day (8 hour) increments at $3,200.00 per day (negotiable). Usage need not be contiguous hours unless travel is included (travel time is billable at a reduced rate).
In any case, it is prudent to assume that it will take months to develop a competent site and to promote it properly. If you are looking for a positive cash flow from the Web in under six months, you will probably be disappointed. We suggest that you have patience with this project, that you have staying power (financially), and that you be dedicated to properly implementing a successful Web strategy. It is not uncommon for a site to take over a year to generate a living for the small business owner doing it themselves, so have a backup plan at all times!
