How Forum Find Works

A Forum Find search generates its results by looking at three important attributes: keyword/phrase relevance, community popularity and Gold status (whether or not the community is Gold).

To begin, Forum Find scans the keywords and name of every community in its database and assigns a relevance score for the words you’ve chosen. It then looks at the popularity of each community and ranks each one based the amount of recent activity – both recent posts and visits. Finally, Forum Find attaches an extra score to each Gold Community and no extra score for Free or Trial communities. For the results you see displayed in the search interface, Forum Find totals all three scores and the community with the highest overall score is listed first, the second highest score second, and so on.

Basic Find Tips

Forum Find is as simple as it looks. Simply enter a keyword or short phrase and click find communities. All searching is case insensitive. Forum Find ignores common words such as “and”, “to”, “the”, etc.

Forum Find also supports advanced searches. Below is an explanation of the different types of searches you can do on Forum Find. Fine-tuning your searches will increase their accuracy and enable you to find the community you’re looking for with greater ease.
