About Us
Background
The AdviceOnline website was one of the very first independent money sites to offer regulated independent financial advice online when launched back in 1997. We have grown substantially since then and now offer a huge range of unbiased financial services via the Internet. We do not allow any banner advertising on the site as our aim is to offer unbiased easy to use independent financial services.
Who are AdviceOnline Ltd?
We are UK Independent Financial advisors, or IFAs, directly regulated by the FSA (Financial Services Authority). We are truly Independent and our sister company Park Row Associates employ highly qualified independent financial advisors who can give unbiased financial advice with or without the need for a face to face meeting using Internet technology.
How do we work?
We offer a combination of Independent Financial Advice and unbiased financial information with a huge range of compare and buy financial product finders, product guides, planning tools, articles and fund supermarkets:
-Financial Advice
We offer expert independent financial advice via our sister company "Park Row Group Plc" with a team of 400+ independent financial advisors working from forty offices strategically located throughout the United Kingdom. Advice is given by telephone, e-mail and written report with face to face meetings only when requested. All financial advice and recommendations are based on your specific requirements and fact find information following detailed analysis by a professional advisor using a combination of experience and full research facilities. AdviceOnline and Park Row are are licensed by the Office of Fair Trading Consumer Credit Licensing Bureau, and are registered under the Data Protection Act.
-Financial Information is split into several services:
  • Compare and Buy Product Finders - You enter your requirements and the system will list all matching products available ( Personal loans for example) with the cheapest first. You can then choose to look at detailed information, download a quote, or go straight to the online applications.
  • Fund Supermarkets - You can access information on all UK investment funds and then buy single or multiple funds at a significant discount within a single wrapper. Our Multi Fund Shops allow you to invest in ISAs, Unit trusts and PEPs using discount fund supermarket technology.
  • Product Guides - We offer a huge range of product guides written in plain English to ensure that clients have a full understanding of all products before purchasing or requesting information.
  • Financial Articles Archive - Whatever the subject we will probably have a well written and interesting article for you to read and print off. We update the articles regularly so there is always up to date topical information available.
  • Financial Planning Tools - we offer 28 interactive financial planning calculators that can be used to prepare and manage your own financial plan. Tools range from a Mortgage Repayment Calculator through to a Portfolio Analysis Tool.
  • World and Market News - Up to the minute news and information on world stock markets and breaking financial stories throughout the UK and the rest of the world. Includes delayed graphical world indices information on the front page.
Why take independent financial advice?
By taking unbiased "independent" advice you get more choice than you would by going to a Direct Insurer. More choice generally means lower premiums and a contract that is tailored to suit your individual needs. If you are thinking of buying direct from a specific Insurance Company, be aware that an individual company may be only able to advise on one product.
How do our independent financial advice services work?
Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 requires that financial advisors obtain information about their customers before offering advice or recommendations. This makes sense as without personal information it would be impossible to recommend products that suit an individuals specific requirements. To obtain this information we ask that you either complete a secure online enquiry form that takes only 2-3 minutes. You will then need to complete a full fact find either by telephone or face to face with an adviser. On receipt of the required information an advisor will be in a position to review your personal finances and make recommendations that are specific to your stated requirements taking into account your attitude to risk and existing investments. An advisor will forward a written report by post and email and then if required we will contact you by phone to discuss the recommendations and any further requirements. A face to face meeting can be arranged if preferred.
What does the independent financial advice cost?
The initial consultation is free and you are not obligated to take up any recommendations although this may be advisable. If you decide to proceed with the recommendations the products will be established on either a fee or commission basis.
What if I do not require advice?

If you carry out your own research and have a good understanding of financial products, and the risks involved in investing in equity backed products, you may wish to use the AdviceOnline financial information (Direct Offer) services. Direct Offer means that we offer a choice of products, and key features information, which you can self select without any client specific advice. This means that a basic product may exclude options such as waiver of premium, life cover, or critical illness. Mortgages may not include Mortgage Protection, Life Cover or options such as Accident , Sickness and Unemployment insurance. With this service AdviceOnline do not offer client specific advice on the product, the fund choice or if the product is suitable for you in connection with your overall financial position. If you require any options not available or feel that you need advice of any kind it is essential that you use the Advice Services. This service only applies to Mortgages and Investments.
