Web/Graphics Designer
Location: Honolulu, HI
Description: The Web/Graphics Designer position is responsible for the layout and design of the Intranet and Internet websites and development of corporate graphics. The Web/Graphics Designer designs and constructs web pages/sites including incorporating graphic user interface (GUI) features and other techniques. Maintains and provides ongoing design of websites, promos and ad banners, seasonal content specials and customer chat launcher designs. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks. The ability to follow directions and carry out complex technical tasks to completion is expected. Must be available for on-call work in the support of system outages.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities The Web/Graphics Designer is responsible for, but not limited to: 1. Developing and maintaining the company's portals and websites. 2. Responsible for creating, updating, and maintaining websites as well as for producing the HTML advertising creatives to promote the websites. 3. Design and create website and promotional layouts for new and exiting websites. 4. Act as lead graphics designer for web and corporate graphics. 5. Working with DBA to maintain and enhance online Internet-based applications. 6. Perform backup and ensure user accessibility to the site. 7. Monitors site traffic and helps scale site capacity to meet traffic demands. 8. Serve as a technical resource for various projects. 9. Creating and maintaining technical documentation. 10. Investigate, troubleshoot and resolve web related issues. 11. Training and support of Technical Support department and junior-level administrators. 12. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications 1. Requires an Associate's Degree in a related field or equivalent work experience. 2. Experience with managing web site content. 3. Expertise in current Internet standards. and protocols, including Web browsers and browser specifications. 4. In-depth knowledge of current web markup or scripting languages: Flash, HTML, XML, JavaScript, ASP, PHP. Use case and wire frame skills. 5. Extensive experience with two or more desktop publishing/imaging applications. o Photo Editing (Adobe Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro) o Drawing (Macromedia Freehand, Adobe Illustrator, Corel Draw) o Page Layout (Adobe PageMaker) o Presentation (MS PowerPoint, Astound) o Multimedia (Macromedia Director, Flash, Streaming audio and video) o Others (Dreamweaver - requirement) 6. Ability and desire to learn new Internet and authoring technologies relevant for web site design. 7. Strong background with one of the following OS's and familiarity with the others: Windows (NT/2000/2003), Mac, UNIX (BSD/Linux). 8. Working knowledge of networking technologies, including security and encryption on the Internet, and basic networking concepts. 9. Skilled working with MS SQL and MYSQL. 10. Must be proficient at using the Internet as a research tool and for supporting open-source software (search engines, mailing lists, newsgroups, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications 1. Bachelor degree in New Media, Graphic Design, or Other related field. 2. Experience working in an ISP environment. 3. Network Operations Manager
Location: Honolulu, HI
Description: The Operations Manager has direct responsibility for Field and Switch Technicians. The primary focus is for the completion of revenue-generating orders; balancing that with the requirements for a stable network. Ability to work all shifts and travel required.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
The Operations Manager is responsible for, but not limited to: 1. Providing on-going support towards completion of customer orders 2. Working with ASCs, Provisioner's, Circuit Designers and Sales Department in support of on-time completion of customer orders. 3. Ensuring sufficient stock of parts and equipment to maintain uninterrupted installation cycles. 4. Identifying potential barriers to on-time completion of orders, and what can be done to remove those barriers. 5. Actively manage technicians on a daily basis, including but not limited to: a. Creating and distributing install, maintenance, Trouble dispatch, on-call, PTO schedules and ADP adjustments. b. Approving time sheets and ensuring that they are turned in on time. c. Reviewing escalated TTs and ones that have been in the Department for extended periods. Provide updates to call center directly or via the TT. d. Establishing technician training procedures. e. Establishing MOPs for installations, troubleshooting, and performing work during maintenance windows. f. Monitoring technician's progress towards completion of tasks and projects. g. Identifying and providing proposals for technicians needs as they arise 6. Identifying and providing all necessary information for maintenance that cannot be deferred, both for our network and directly in support of customers. Includes assessment of target completion date and all resources (manpower, money, and equipment) required. 7. Identifying and providing all necessary information for maintenance that can be deferred, including assessment of target completion date and all resources (manpower, money, and equipment) required. 8. Understanding of HVAC system including bypass procedures. 9. Understanding of -48 volt DC and battery plant including APC UPS, Generator, ATS T-bus and commercial power bypass procedure.
Supervisory Responsibility: Supervise all Trouble Ticket personnel, NOC Technicians, Field Technicians, and Switch Technicians. Minimum Qualifications 1. 3-5 years experience in commercial telephony environment with data/voice communications. 2. Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience. 3. 1-3 years of previous management/leadership experience. 4. Proficiency in MS Office suite of products and Visio. 5. Understanding of Telephony terminology. 6. Strong written and verbal skills. 7. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required.
Preferred Qualifications 1. 3-5 years of previous Telecom management experience. 2. Experience working with trouble tickets and circuit delivery. 3. Field Technician
Location: Honolulu, Maui
Description: The Field Technician is responsible to install and maintain hubs and customer equipment. Performs troubleshooting and testing of equipment to ensure smooth and reliable functioning. The Field Technician position can be categorized into three separate functions: Installation, Transmission, and Maintenance. Ability to work overtime & some travel required.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Installation: Field Technician must understand the suite of PLNI's products and services, requirements of the Service Order, method of delivery and activation. FT will survey the customer's premises prior to service/equipment installation. Knowledge of the Service Order requirements, premise equipment physical/technical specifications and electrical power is a must. Professional communication and problem solving skills are also required during this phase. Travel and Overtime are required for Site Surveys & Service Activation. Transmission: In-depth knowledge of Trunk & Line services, Time Division Multiplexing (TDM), DS-1, DS-3 testing and turn-up will be mandatory. Familiarity with Line side services, SONET, ATM/Frame Relay and IP preferred. FT will configure and provision facilities on Nortel/Lucent/Marconi OC-48-OC-3 systems, Alcatel 1630 &1631 DACS. FT must be proficient with the use of many network provisioning/maintenance systems and applications. FT will be required to comprehend technical documentation from Circuit Design and Engineering to accurately provision physical and virtual cross connections in reference to Service Order fulfillment. FT will collaborate with Circuit Design & Engineering should documentation require modifications. FT may be required to make and document these changes by issuing an As-Built diagram to insure acknowledgement throughout organization. During an installation, Transmission duties will include the end to end testing of transport circuit to ensure quality of service. Travel and is required for installing off island cross connections. Maintenance: FT will be responsible for the overall operational health and maintenance of PLNI's analog and TDM network. This involves timely response to network/customer outages, requiring interaction with Verizon, various service providers and Interconnect Vendors. Understanding of network alarms and conditions are essential in resolving Internal & External Trouble Tickets in accordance with PLNI NCC Manual. FT must have experience with circuit fault diagnostics and the use of various pieces of test equipment. FT will also be required to comprehend technical documentation from Engineering, Outside Plant and various equipment vendors and execute the Scope of Work or procedure described. Travel and Overtime are required for scheduled On-Call duties and trouble dispatch.

Knowledge of Trunk & Line services, Time Division Multiplexing (TDM), DS-1 and DS-3 testing and turn-up. 4. Basic MS Office computer skills. 5. Good communication skills. 6. Must be able to transport and install equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications 1. Associates Degree in Technology or equilivent work experience. 2. 5+ years experience in commercial telephony environment with data/voice communications. 3. Knowledge of SONET, ATM, Frame Relay and IP is a plus 4. Operating knowledge of test equipment (T-Birds or others) 5. Operating knowledge of various network equipment (transport and access) Nortel OC3/OC12 and Passport switch, Lucent OC-48, Marconi OC/12, Alcatel DACS 1630 and 1631. 6. Experience with troubleshooting Voice and Data circuits. 7. Experience with OTDR operation and Fiber Optic testing.

Description: The System Administrator is responsible for the hardware and software that provide the Internet services, with a primary focus on information processing systems including remote-access equipment. The System Administrator is responsible for all servers and the networking hardware and software that connect them together. This position assists senior technical staff with the design, engineering, maintenance, and performance monitoring of these systems. The desire to learn new technologies and increase one's skill set is critical to success in this position. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: The System Administrator is responsible for, but not limited to: 1. Computer system hardware and software installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance 2. Assist in network hardware and software installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance 3. Assist in the design and implementation of comprehensive, robust, large-scale, high-performance solutions for services such as email, remote authentication, web hosting and DNS. 4. Serve as a technical resource for various projects 5. Writing scripts to automate tasks 6. Creating and maintaining technical documentation 7. Investigate, trouble shoot, and follow through Tier II and III trouble-ticket escalation 8. Training and support of Technical Support department and junior-level administrators 9. System and services monitoring 10. Performance monitoring and system tuning 11. Perform system backups. 12. Able to write automation scripts in an administrative language (Tk, Perl, a shell, etc.) 6. Understands process control in a UNIX environment (job control, redirection, kernel vs. shell, virtual memory, etc.) 7. Understands file systems in a UNIX environment (permissions, fsck, superblocks, inodes, symlinks etc.) 8. Fundamental understanding of LAN technologies and TCP/IP networking in a UNIX environment (Ethernet, hubs vs. switches, bridges vs. routers, DHCP, subnetting, static vs. dynamic routing, DNS, IP, ICMP, TCP, UDP, ports, etc.) 9. Fundamental understanding of Internet security (DoS attacks, viruses, Trojan horses, backdoors, exploits, etc.) 10. Some experience with Remote Access servers (modems, PPP, RADIUS, etc.) 11.
