In the fight against Muscular Dystrophy, Budweiser's 24th annual poker classic is once again slated for St. Louis. Beginning in 1982 this charitable event raises money through its player's entry fees. Budweiser's Poker Classic has raised almost $400,000.00 for this debilitating disease.
Although there is no cure for Muscular Dystrophy, a disease that ravages the muscular skeletal muscles that control movement doctors use respiratory therapy to aid in breathing and physical therapy to control painful muscle contractions. In some cases corrective orthopedic surgery can improve quality of life.
All proceeds raised in this Poker Classic go to the MDA which is a non-profit health organization in the United States that is dedicated to conquering this neuromuscular disease that debilitates more than a million Americans.
The grand prize offering is your name engraved on the traveling trophy as the "Best Poker Player in St. Louis" and a chance to aid in the battle against MD.
This year's tournament is sponsored by Grey Eagle Distributors, the wholesale distributor of Anheuser-Busch products. The entrance fee is $30.00 for one preliminary round, $50.00 for two or $175.00 for a pre-registered table of seven players. The opening preliminary round will take place Tuesday, August 16 at Orlando Gardens Banquet Center, the 2nd on August 23 at the Holiday Inn Southwest/Viking Banquet Center and the Semi-finals the following day at the Holiday Inn. The final table will consist of 7 Semi-finalists battling it out for the title of "Best Poker Play in St. Louis".
