VILLA LA JOYA is a two-storey, detached holiday villa, situated
in a small, exclusive estate above the village of Guajar Alto. Guajar
Alto itself is a tranquil village, removed from the usual tourist
destinations on the Costa del Sol, which still retains its traditional
Andalusian style. Furthermore, it is only 25 minutes away from the
range of beaches in and around Salobreña on the Costa Tropical.
The property is surrounded by orchards of orange and lemon trees
and lush tropical plants. The large oval swimming pool (8x3m),
situated on the extensive south west terrace, is private and secluded
from view. There is a range of terraces around the house,
some with shaded areas, others for relaxing in the sun and all possess
amazing views of the village and surrounding mountains.
The lower part of the house is accessed through a glass conservatory
leading into a well lit and comfortable lounge. The dining
room and kitchen are entered through stylish arches and both are
tastefully furnished and well-equipped. There are also two bedrooms
and one Moorish style bathroom in the western part of the house
on the ground floor. One of the bedrooms has its own terrace
leading out to the pool.
On the first floor there is an additional bathroom and 2
other bedrooms, one of which is the main bedroom with en-suite bathroom
and private door to the pool terrace. There is another sun terrace
on the roof of the main bedroom where guests can enjoy breathtaking
views over the valley and Los Guajares mountains. The views from
the windows are also lovely taking in the pool, gardens and orchards
surrounding the house.
The house itself is an elegant example of typical andalusian architecture,
with round, open windows, light coloured rooms and small balconies
and terraces. It offers comfort and luxury rolled into one, making
it the perfect place to spend a holiday. The owners have collected
antique furniture from all over Spain and used it to furnish
the house in a very stylish and tasteful way.
The whole estate is attractively enclosed by plants and trees,
offering complete privacy for sunbathing, eating al fresco and generally
just taking it easy.
Motril, a 20 minute drive away, is convenient for shopping, banks
or medical requirements. Alternatively, Guajar Alto is a 2 minute
walk away and a good place for bars and restaurants. Granada and
the ski resorts of the Sierra Nevada are a 1 hour drive away. The
nearest airports are Malaga, Granada and Almeria, all a 1½
hour drive.
