How to Choose a Trip

There are many factors that go into selecting a river rafting trip. The most important, by far, is finding a great outfitter. Since you found this website, that problem is already solved. Our strict criteria allow only the BEST OUTFITTERS in the country to belong to Adventure Gateway. This means you have many years of direct experience helping you with this decision.

The next thing you need to decide is … what kind of whitewater adventures do you want? Our members offer rafting vacations for almost everyone. Do you want kid friendly family vacations or wild outdoor adventure trips? Can you spend a half day or two weeks on this vacation adventure? And where would you like to visit? Our members offer outdoor adventures in Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, the Florida Panhandle, Idaho, Maine, Minnesota, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah and West Virginia.

You can get a good idea of what to expect from this website and by visiting our member sites. When you call our 800 numbers, you'll be talking to a real person who has the knowledge to answer almost any question. We have worked with millions of guests so don't feel weird or silly asking any question. We have put together trips for thousands of families and friends like you. If you want to run a beautiful river or lake in a raft, canoe or kayak, we can find a trip for you or your group.

Another important consideration for a river trip is lodging. Do you want to camp on the water or stay in a nearby hotel, campground, lodge, bed and breakfast, country home or cabin? For some, there is nothing more relaxing and beautiful than pulling the boats up to camp, having the guides make a great dinner, reading a book or watching the sun set on the rivers edge, or talking to the guides about the next day's adventure. We realize, however, that this may not be for everyone. We sometimes hear, "My idea of camping is the Holiday Inn." No matter what preference you have for lodging, we can arrange a trip to accommodate your needs.

We even have had guests - after their first river trip - trying a few different rivers. Some of them have tried to "bag" all the great rivers in the United States over a period of a few years. Think about it - there are not too many sports where you can experience the very best whitewater rafting with not much more than some river clothes, a credit card and a commitment to take some time off from your working world.

It's easy: contact us, bring the right gear, show up in the morning and we will have your river trip together, whether your trip is in a few hours or a few weeks. You can literally be in your home or place of work on a Friday and on one of America's top rivers a day or two later.

We would like to pass on one last piece of advice that comes from many of our guests: "If you think a day or a week is all you can afford or want to take, then seriously consider spending a little more time." Guests consistently tell us that their only regret is that they didn't stay longer.

Call, write or email us, and we will get your river trip together from start to finish - no worries, no hassles.
