Located in the Siskiyou Mountains at an elevation of 4,000 feet, Oregon Caves offers family oriented cave tours, hiking, ranger programs, lodging and fine dining.

Directions

From Interstate Five in Oregon take Exit 55 (Highway 199) at Grants Pass, and drive about 30 miles to Cave Junction. Turn left on Highway 46 and drive 20 miles to Oregon Caves.

From Crescent City, California drive three miles north on Highway 101, exit and follow Highway 199 for about 55 miles to Cave Junction. Turn right at the first stop light (Highway 46) and drive 20 miles to Oregon Caves.

NOTE TO TRAVELERS WITH RVS OR TRAVEL TRAILERS: The last eight miles of the road to the monument is narrow with many curves. Parking for large vehicles is limited at the monument. It is recommended you park your rig at the Illinois Valley Visitor Center, located on Highway 46 a few hundred yards from the intersection with Highway 199, and drive your tow vehicle to the monument.

Be Prepared
Be sure to wear warm clothing and comfortable walking shoes. Cameras with flash units are allowed. Backpacks and tripods are not permitted in the cave due to low ceilings and narrow passageways. The cave is lighted and personal flashlights are not necessary.

Height Restrictions

Children must be at least 42 inches tall and be able to demonstrate their ability to climb a set of test stairs to go on the full tour of the cave. Park staff will take your family on a free tour into the first part of the cave if you have children who are too small to go on the regular tour.

Avoid Long Waits
Arriving early in the day during July and August will help you avoid long waits for a tour. On busy days, there are a variety of activities to do while you wait for your tour including Ranger conducted walks and talks, tours of the historic lodge, short loop trails through the forest and a Junior Ranger program for children.

Accessibility
Only the first room of the cave is accessible to wheelchairs.

Food and Lodging
Food and lodging are available in the historic Oregon Caves Chateau, a National Historic Landmark. Dining services, gift gallery and lodging are open from mid-May through October. Lodging information or reservations: 541-592-3400.
