#1028: 1870 craftsman-style bungalow, restored in 2001, bursting with casual charm and classy comfort.
The decor of this former carriage house inspires delightful weekend getaways for the romantic-minded, family-oriented, or the athletic-minded traveler. Originally built in 1870, it has been lovingly restored using true craftsman-style technique. Luxuriate in classic elegance and comfort. Marble, tile, and hardwood-pine combine to bring out Old-World Rennaissance decor. The living area with its soft leather & overstuffed furniture invite you to cozy up to the 27" DVD/VCR HD TV sitting atop the 1909 steamer trunk. Black and White photography of local landmarks by Su Zanne adorn the walls along with tapestried and varied Rennaisance artwork. The first floor opens off the lane in the front and off a private patio deck furnished with table & chairs in the back. A grill for your use as the nights cool sits next to a discreet ramp allowing entry with baby stollers or wheelchairs into the stone-tiled foyer. Situated off the foyer is the first of 2 bedrooms. This room blends sunlight and wicker to bring out the smile in a weary-faced traveler while the latest in softness transforms our queen-sized bed into a haven of restful nights. Our handsome, stone-tiled shower/bath takes your breath yet is fitted with grab bars and handicap-friendly shower heads cunningly placed to not detract from its charm. Adjacent to the foyer sits a discreet laundry room holding a full sized washer/dryer to assure our guests of 21st century comfort amongst our Old World ambience. The kitchen brings to mind Italian villas as you prepare your meals and serve them at the colorful 1800's-maple kitchen table and chairs. A window box bench seat completes the villa feel and provides yet more storage space to add to the below stairs closet for those looking for lengthier stays. Sunshine spills in from five floor to ceiling windows upstairs in a master bedroom that takes up the entire 2nd floor. The spaciousness emanates from its size & "loft-mimicry" design. The roomy walk in closet, small sitting area, and attached bath with jetted tub help to turn this bedroom into a Rennaissance suite. A separate 20 " TV on the 2nd floor allows for families / couples traveling together to feel part of the group...yet have that morning coffee and TV time to themselves. The spaciousness and diversity of design gives our guests many options on how they choose to make use of the cottage floorplan. The carriage house is unique in that its location off the lane provides privacy and offstreet parking yet it is nestled close enough (yet far enough) from the owners larger stucture to give a feeling of independant connectedness. Living on East Jones Lane puts our guests within easy walking distance along cobblestone sreets and moss-laden trees to the artsy Soho Cafe, the eclectic Firefly Cafe, the frugal Starfish Cafe, and the world famous Clary's Cafe. Other areas of finer dining are also withing walking distance or a short drive away. Around the corner is Mother Matilda Beasley Park with a playground, baseball diamond, jog path and doggie exercise area. A block in the opposite direction finds you at Whitefield Square and you are five blocks from Forsyth Park, Six from Colonial Cemetary, St. Peters Cathedral & Tybee Beach is only a short 20 minute drive to the east. Numerous antique and small shops line the surrounding streets. Pets less than 20 lbs are accepted on a case-by-case basis with a $100 cleaning deposit, $50 of it non-refundable & the remainder refundable if no damage assessed. This is a non-smoking property.
