I got in trouble for the photo above. As often happens, the photographer came as a client and is now a friend. He is coming for his 6th visit, and plans to move to Paradise. He takes his photography seriously, and I was body surfing as he was taking this photo. You can see me gasping for air as my head was underwater for the previous minute. When I surfed into this photo, I was banned from the ocean until he finished his photos. Our camera is due to arrive with another client/friend (4th visit) next week, so we should come up with some new companions for the page. We have had the privilege of meeting some truly wonderful people in this business, and look forward to Randy's visit in August. After a month of writing, we learned we both graduated from the same college, and he is surprising his wife with a second (15 years) honeymoon here in Paradise. He's picking her up from work and driving her to the airport, and she has no idea. We hope you will soon be joining us.

Well, it appears we must eat our words (below) about the weather always being perfect in 1 Dream Getaway territory. October, 2005 was a disaster in Costa Rica, although our clients didn't seem to notice. It seems Mother Nature is not happy, and causing problems around the world. Our rain is effected by hurricanes in the Caribbean, and so now Beta has passed. The government of Costa Rica is very proficient at collecting taxes, but the money seems to disappear in San Jose (or offshore bank accounts). So with the roads washed out, the one-hour drive from our office to LIR is now 2 1/2 hours. We would love to include some photos of the roads, but Heather advises that we already have too many photos---which take too long to load. If history is a teacher, Government will wait for local businesses to repair the roads. We have no choice if we want to stay in business. New telephone lines have been run past our office, but now I.C.E. (the Costa Rica government utility) claims they do not have junction boxes to provide new service. A cell phone relay tower went down in a storm, and so we apologize to those of you trying to call us. As soon as we have a REAL telephone, we'll put the number in big letters on our Home Page and Contact Page. If you have to call, leave in message if we don't answer. Hopefully we will eventually get the message. At times, the phone actually rings!

We are really excited about 1 DREAM RESORT, our new PACKAGE, which is what Costa Rica should be about. You won't find it on any web page but ours, and it is another example of how we are constantly striving to give you the vacation of your dreams. Because of Costa Rica's roads (or lack of same), our trip to Liberia is now nearly as difficult as travel to San Jose, so we now offer our clients the options of flying into San Jose (SJO) or Liberia (LIR). From San Jose, you can fly directly into the resort (less than an hour). If you choose a companion, she can await you in San Jose and travel with you to the resort---or we can have her waiting at the resort. If you fly into Liberia, we will still await you with your companion, and then drive (about 2 hours) to 1 DREAM RESORT. You will NEVER find such pristine, deserted beaches or such beautiful surroundings.

Each suite offers air conditioning, TV, a safe, and a telephone. The restaurant is GREAT, and there is a casino on-site. Ride horses on the beach (or take a tour) whenever you wish. Go deep-sea or in-shore fishing whenever you wish. Take tours to rain forests, volcanoes, canopy tours, or almost any activity that turns you on. Dance all night at the on-site bar/disco---or just relax by the spectacular pool. It is all yours in privacy, serenity and security.

We would like to thank the thousands who come to our website, and those of you who come to Costa Rica to see us---for your romantic getaways, honeymoons, executive meetings and adult vacations. Our weather is always perfect, and the only State Department Warning is for the rubberneckers watching the beautiful Ticas along our roads. NOW ABOUT LOVE AND LUST:

This article is likely to offend some of you, and so we apologize in advance. Again, it reflects our personal views in the real world and in our home of Costa Rica. By the way, I failed to address another question that frequently comes up about clothes and climate. We live in a house near the beach without air conditioning and with glass windows (not commonly found here). The thermometer in our living room has never read below 77 degrees Fahrenheit nor above 84. You will never need a suit or tie, and even the very expensive restaurants accommodate people no matter how they dress. There are few bugs, and our doors are kept wide open during the day. We close them at night only for the occasional mosquito.

I have never had sex with a prostitute, and my wife was a 35-year-old virgin when we married. We rarely drink and have never used drugs. Still we recognize that sex, booze and drugs have always been a part of every society, and the Government of Costa Rica is smart enough to realize that you cannot legislate morality---as the US should have learned when it repealed the Prohibition Amendment. A formally Catholic country where houses are adorned with religious statues and nude (or topless) beaches are prohibited, Costa Rica has legalized prostitution (and gambling), and has a much lower divorce rate than the States. Costa Rican schools (and teachers) are grossly under funded. Facilities and teaching materials are sparse. Yet the illiteracy rate in Costa Rica is half that of the United States because teachers are allowed to teach and the curriculum (aside from Catholic courses) is nonpolitical. The kids spend their time in school and paying attention rather than in busses and air raid drills.

We have many friends and family here with children, and none of them who attend public schools speak English. They will all tell you they were taught English in school---but you will have to ask them in Spanish. Most travelers to Costa Rica come to San Jose and are given the CITY TOUR, which tells you that the bars and walls around the houses and business are part of Spanish architecture. They will say that all Costa Rican children speak English, have ready access to the Internet and are given free email addresses. This is pure, unadulterated Costa Rican government propaganda. Successful Ticos attended private schools, and only those fluent in English and computers can find good jobs.

I have found that American women can be toxic. This can also be true of Ticas who were educated in private schools, date Gringos, and are part of the Upper Class. My wife was educated in the private school system of Costa Rica. In the year and a half we dated, I certainly had my reservations about our differences in education, culture, language, beliefs and lifestyle. What made me take the plunge is that we could discuss anything openly, and I could always know that she was never being deceptive. A language barrier can be a fun experience, and make both parties feel closer to each other. In our efforts to communicate with each other, there was no room to play the games couples often play. I usually fail to communicate this fact when helping our clients select their companions.

Any American woman will cringe to read this about my typical day. I defend myself by explaining that the way Dinorah treats me leaves me no alternative but to want to treat her the same way. Despite my college education and her sixth grade education, she has taught me more than I managed to learn in a half century. My goal now is for my wife to smile and be happy every day, and I pursue that goal above all others.

I awake wrapped in her arms. The only times she gets angry with me is when I roll over on my stomach in the middle of the night or if I admire one of the beautiful, well-dressed women that populate Dream Getaway territory. Before she asks what I want for breakfast, she asks if I like the clothes she is wearing. Then she cleans the dishes and house while I get to work---but never out of her sight. No matter what I am doing, an hour never goes by without her saying he loves me and giving me a kiss. If I make breakfast and serve her in bed, she acts like she just died and went to heaven. She never goes anywhere alone, nor does she permit me to do so. The massage oil is always kept at the head of the bed.

Nora does not like me to shower alone, and spends considerable time scrubbing me down, and insists that she dry me off, as I do not towel myself well enough to suit her. I have no sense of smell and hers is acute, so she selects my deodorant and cologne and applies them generously before laying out my clothes. I rarely tie my own shoes or comb my own hair. Maids are inexpensive and common in Costa Rica, but we prefer our privacy. I would gladly do laundry, but she is very fussy and insists on doing it herself. She hates to iron, so I am a hero for performing that task. Once I would have considered this lifestyle intrusive and smothering, but Nora taught me to appreciate life and love.

We receive letters from clients who "just want to come for sex" and ask things like "Will the girls kiss?" In like manner, we hear from our "high-class" bilingual, private-school-educated, San Jose companions (daughters of Costa Rican society and Government who are often married or have boyfriends, but provide the best photos, command high prices, and are the most popular companions), how much they can make per night in San Jose and how they want more money to come to the beach. To those potential clients, we respond by offering safe, clean whore houses (San Jose or the beach) where there is a large selection of girls to hire by the hour, the night or the week. For the San Jose society companions, we forward their photos and arrange accommodations for them and our clients.

In a couple of weeks we have a client coming to the Dream Getaway Party Resort. He is a handsome, successful man who we have come to know well through email. His attitude is that he wants to know Costa Rica and be with a Costa Rican girl. He feels it is not her job to know his language. His companion is a public-school-educated Tica who did not have the benefits of high society. Latin men would rather drink beer, watch soccer and play dominos than enjoy the company of some of the most beautiful, well-dressed, loving women in the world. We always anticipate the joy such a companion will have living in a beautiful resort with a great guy, and always hope the relationship will bloom into something more. In fact, our clients almost always remain in touch with their companions and come back to be with them. In this case, Nora and I will meet him at the airport with his companion, and stay with him at the Party Resort. Nora was born on a farm near the Party Resort, and so we will all travel to see rural Costa Rica, and some exotic tropical places that are not in any tour guide itinerary of Costa Rica.

Certainly our clients who come for sex leave sexually drained and satisfied. The gamblers get to enjoy the casinos. and sports betting that is prohibited in most places of the world, and the beach people get to relax on beautiful, uncrowded beaches with plenty to do if they get bored. Yet we always regret that they will not allow themselves to know true companionship and affection that could have been theirs. There is San Jose and there is Costa Rica.
