President Bush (Nov. 9): "I ask all of our citizens and businesses to contribute generously to this cause. The international response to this disaster has been generous, but the needs are still great. And so I also urge other governments, peoples in other lands, to do whatever they can do to help. Secretary Rice is traveling to the Middle East and Asia from November 10-21, 2005. She is visiting Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Israel and the Palestinian Territories, and South Korea. Secretary Rice also will accompany President Bush on his visits to China and Mongolia. [more]  President Bush's visit to Asia and APEC summit was recently discussed online.

While in Bahrain, Secretary Rice will attend the Forum for the Future along with foreign ministers from across the BMENA region, the G8 and other partner countries to further reform in the areas of democracy, civil society and education.

Deputy Secretary Zoellick (Nov. 9): "The fulfillment of The Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) requires leaders from North and South to share responsibility for governance, to confront difficult decisions, and to keep forging compromises. The United States condemns the terrorist bombings in Jordan today. Such wanton acts of murder against innocent people violate every faith and creed. Our hearts go out to the victims and their families.

Secretary Rice accompanied President Bush to Latin America. After the conclusion of the Summit of the Americas, they visited Brazil at the invitation of President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silvaa, and then Panama to meet with President Martin Torrijos Espino. [more from the trip]
