Ongoing Research

The Van Gogh Museum supports several research projects. Some of these involve (longterm) collaborative arrangements with academic institutions such as Onderzoeksschool Kunstgeschiedenis (art historical research school).

At present three major research projects are under way at the Van Gogh Museum:
1) The production of a series of museum catalogues about Van Gogh's work in the Van Gogh Museum collection;
2) The Letters Project, leading to a new, critical edition of Van Gogh's correspondence;
3) Van Gogh's studio practice in context, a project that focuses on the methods and materials used by Van Gogh and his contemporaries.
And there is much emphasis on Technical and conservation research.
