Get Better Gas Mileage
With the craziness of gas prices lately we've been talking a lot about how to improve gas mileage. The easiest way to get better gas mileage is to tune up your car. Check your tire pressure monthly and clean or replace your air filter. Just these two things can improve your gas mileage up to 13%. Next consider your driving habits.
Steady Driving
The more erratic you drive the more gas you burn. If you are one of those drivers that is constantly speeding up (really stepping on it), slamming on your brakes, and then speeding up again you are wasting a boatload of gas. Aggressive stop and go driving will waste almost 30% of your gas. It could also get you a traffic ticket. When you're on the turnpike, I95, or any other freeway try to use your cruise control. It will keep your speed steady and save you gas. Beyond these basic steps there are a few things you can do to your car to improve your gas mileage.
Get a Tornado
Any easy modification that can be made to almost any car is to a product called the Tornado. It's an ingenious device that installs easily in almost any car and improves gas mileage by 1 to 2 miles per gallon. The tornado twists the air as it enters your fuel system increasing efficiency. Here are a few examples of results reported by drivers.
Vehicle | Base MPG | With Tornado | Percentage Improvement |
2002 F150 | 12.6 | 16 | 20% |
2002 Toyota Camry | 25.6 | 29.25 | 14.26% |
2003 Honda Accord | 27.38 | 30.52 | 11.5% |
1998 Crown Vic | 15.91 | 19.77 | 24% |
To get a Tornado we recommend JCWhitney.com
We checked the price of the Tornado for our Ford F150 and it was $68.99. At that price the Tornado will pay for itself in about 4 months and then keep on saving us money. We expect to get an extra 50 to 60 miles out of every tank. Another added benefit of improving air flow is improved power. The difference in power is noticeable.
Get More Air
To save even a little more gas and dramatically improve your car, truck, or SUV power consider adding an aftermarket air intake system. High flow air intake systems will deliver up to a 30 horsepower increase and when combined with a Tornado will improve gas mileage even more.
