  • How can I book accommodation, transport and tours?

 

You can book ferry, coach, accommodation, activities and tours for Wellington and New Zealand through our official i-SITE Visitor Centre or you can book Wellington accommodation and tours online.

 

  • Are there any concerts or shows on while I am in Wellington?

 

Wellington is the home of art and culture and there is generally a show on every night. Check out our events calendar and Circa, Downstage and Bats for further information.

 

  • Where is a nice restaurant I can go to for dinner?

 

Wellington is full of fabulous restaurants for you to experience. Check out our restaurants cafes and nightlife search page.

 

  • I need a venue for a conference, can you please help me?

 

Absolutely! We have a convention bureau that offers a free
venue finding service and recommendations. Please contact us at bureau@WellingtonNZ.com.

 

  • How far is it from the Wellington Airport to the city centre?

 

It is approximately 10 kms/15 minutes from the airport to the city centre.  A taxi will cost approximately $20NZ.  A shuttle can be taken into the city for $15.  The Stagecoach Flyer bus service regularly leaves the airport and goes as far as Upper Hutt. 

 

  • What is the phone number for the local city bus, city harbour ferry, cable car and train information?

  • Can you send me some brochures about Wellington?

 

Certainly, you can fill in the online order form and we will post the brochures out to you (subject to availability).

 

  • I am doing a project on Wellington, do you have some statistics available?

 

Yes. Positively Wellington Tourism undertakes research on tourism in the Wellington region. However, we are not resourced to assist with school or university assignments by answering individual assignments, providing comment on specific questions or opinion pieces on your assignment topics.  There are statistics and links on this page which will be able to assist you.   • Do I need a car to travel within Wellington city?

 

No, everything in downtown Wellington is within walking distance and for venturing futher out there is a regular bus, train and ferry service.

 

  • What can I do in Wellington with my family?

 

Wellington is a very family-friendly city.  The capital has many things to see and do for children of all ages.  Search our sights and activites database under Activity Type Children for the most current information.

 

  • What can I do for free?

 

Many of Wellington's sights and activities are free - check out our searches and suggested itineraries for ideas.

 

  • Do you offer internships?

 

Positively Wellington Tourism is always interested to hear from people who would like to work at the i-SITE Visitor Centre. The marketing office does not offer internships, but the jobs vacancy page is regularly updated.

 

  • What is Wellington's Population?

  • I am am bringing my class to Wellington - where can I take them?  Where can school groups stay?

 

There are so many curriculum linked options for class trips that we have dedicated a section of our site to it!  We have also listed a whole range of suitable accommodation for school groups including staying at the Wellington Zoo or Carter Observatory.

 

  • Can you tell me about the new smoking laws?

 

Smoking in all hospitality venues, including bars, restaurants, cafes, and casinos, is prohibited in Wellington and the rest of New Zealand.

 

  • What is the music playing on your "Have a love affair with Wellington" TV commercial?
