Internet courses are offered through web access to the ETSU course management system, Blackboard Learning System.  Registration for Internet courses is completed in the same way as traditional courses. Once registered for an Internet course, most or all of the course work can be completed through participation in the Blackboard Learning System course site.  In some cases a few class meetings may be required.

ETSU Internet courses require that enrolled students meet the following minimum technical requirements:

The ETSU system requires a 5.0 browser( Internet Explorer or Netscape) or better for best performance,
Have a valid email account - all ETSU students are assigned an email account.

Software applications as described Here. Some courses may require discipline specific software.

Successful completion of Internet courses requires the student to

Be self-motivated and self-disciplined,
Be willing to "speak up" if problems arise,
Be willing to commit 4 to 15 hours per week per course,
Be able to meet the minimum requirements of the program,
Feel that high quality learning can take place without going to a traditional classroom,

Interactive Television Courses(ITV) are live, fully interactive, courses taught from the Johnson City campus to regional campuses in Kingsport, Bristol, Greeneville and to other locations as needed. ETSU operates 8  fiber optic classrooms , 4 IP Video classrooms, and one dual protocol class room using ISDN and/or IP Video on the UT Network. A large selection of ITV courses is offered each semester.

Registration for ITV courses is completed in the same way as traditional courses. Students must be admitted to the university before registration.

In ITV courses students attend classes on the same schedule as traditional courses. Each remote classroom is staffed by a classroom facilitator. Courier services are provided for student/faculty materials delivery for all ITV courses to all remote classrooms on a daily schedule.

Video courses are pre-taped courses supplemented with written materials. Students receive the tape set and written materials as course resources. Most Video courses also have text books. Students meet with the instructor initially for an orientation session and other times during the semester on a pre-arranged basis.
