WINTER FLOODS AND HIGH WINDS
CURTAILING COARSE ANGLING AS WE WRITE
Since our last report on October 12th we've had
an abundance of rainfall and the high winds and further rainfall
yesterday Monday November 7th has left many of our fisheries in flood
or rising as we write, hence not much angling activity at
present. Unsettled weather and further wind is forecast for the
rest of the week so prospects are not favourable.
The Central Fisheries Board
Coarse fish policy review Group will be holding a public
workshop on Thursday November 24th in the Mullingar Park Hotel.
The objective of which is to develop a National Coarse Fish
Policy. Up for review will be fish health, legislation, angling
marketing, present day stock of coarse fish in Irish waters plus
lots more we are told. The meeting will commence at 9am, and
there are guest speakers from Northern Ireland U.K. and the
Republic of Ireland. This should be a very interesting meeting.

GLORIOUS LOUGH GLORE OUR PIKE
ANGLING HOTSPOT THIS WEEK
Water levels have risen significantly on the Shannon with most of the
Shannon callows now flooded. A few visiting anglers who braved the
elements had good results on the
Shannon around Shannonbridge. In the Mullingar area Lough Glore
was a highlight with quality (if not quantity) pike caught to nearly
24lbs. Alan Mc Gurdy, CEO Eastern Regional Fisheries Board retires
after 40 years distinguished service. Michael Flanagan keeps us up to
date on this and other local news such as the upcoming Lough
Derravaragh Christmas competition scheduled for next Sunday. TIGHT
