Heathrow Airport Security
You are likely to experience more security checks and see more armed police.
This is for your safety so your co-operation with searches would be appreciated.
Please make sure you keep your baggage with you at all times and alert
any member of airport staff to any unattended package. Never look after
baggage belonging to other people or carry anything onto the aircraft
for someone else.
Security
Measures
Your
boarding card will be inspected by airport security before you enter the
departure lounge. You will be required to go through security search,
where your hand baggage (including handbags cameras, mobile phones, computers
and calculators, etc.) will be passed through an x-ray machine and may
also be searched by hand, supported by explosives trace detection equipment.
The archway metal detector, which all passengers pass through, is safe
for pregnant women and passengers with heart pacemakers. However, if you
have any concerns you can request a hand search. Some passengers and/or
flights may be subject to specific or additional security measures at
security search or at the gate room, including hand search, supported
by explosives trace detection equipment.
