Highlights

Department of State Library
The mission of the Ralph J. Bunche Library is to support the research needs of State Department personnel.  The library is not open to the public and does not lend books directly to members of the public.  However, those who wish to borrow books from the collection can ask their local library to make an interlibrary loan request.

Children's Passport Issuance Alert Program
This program is a service for the parents and legal guardians of minor children. It enables the Department of State's Office of Children's Issues to notify a parent or court ordered legal guardian, when requested, before issuing a U.S. passport for his or her child. The parent, legal guardian, legal representatives, or the court of competent jurisdiction must submit a written request for entry of a child's name into the program to the Office of Children's Issues. Adopting Children From Other Countries
The Bureau of Consular Affairs provides information about the adoption processes in various countries and the U.S. legal requirements to bring a child adopted abroad to the United States.
