Where does the New York Philharmonic
get the money to engage the best guest artists and conductors
in the world? To play free concerts in New York City area
parks for hundreds of thousand of people? To make it possible
for a six-year-old to hear the sound of a bassoon or French
horn for the first time?
Less than half of the New York Philharmonic's operating costs come
from ticket sales. For the rest, we must rely upon Friends
of the Philharmonic - people who contribute between $75 and
$1,499 a year. (Those who are able to give more - from $1,500
up to $100,000 are invited to become Patrons
of the Philharmonic).
Contributions from Friends enable
the Philharmonic to present outstanding concerts at Avery
Fisher Hall as well as free Concerts in the Parks performances,
the annual Memorial Day Concert, and radio and television
broadcasts, and to nurture new audiences through our extensive
education programs such as the Young People's Concerts®, the
School Partnership Program, and sixteen more diverse efforts.
A portion of all contributions is tax deductible. In addition,
many corporations match charitable contributions, which can
double the size of your gift, and depending upon the size
of your gift, increase your benefits. Of course, you can also
give the gift of unforgettable performances and exclusive
benefits by making a friend
a Friend*.
As a Friend of the Philharmonic, you
will be rich in company; those who recognize the value of
the finest musicians - and the finest music - in the world.
