Features

Use the NetBeans Mobility Pack 5.0 to write, test, and debug applications for Java™ Micro Edition platform (Java™ ME platform) technology-enabled mobile devices. It integrates support for the Mobile Information Device Profile (MIDP) 2.0, the Connected, Limited Device Configuration (CLDC) 1.1 with the improved performance and features of the NetBeans IDE 5.0 development environment. You can easily integrate third-party emulators for a robust testing environment. Mobility Pack supports a variety of mobile device emulators.

What's New in 5.0

NetBeans Mobility Pack 5.0 adds several key new features to an already powerful and easy-to-use mobile Java™ development tool, including:

• Improved Mobile Client to Web Application Connection Generator - easily access web services and other server-side data from MIDlets via servlets. The generator now supports complex types.
• Support for Java ME Web Services (JSR 172) - Write applications that access web services directly from your phone.
• New custom components in the Visual Mobile Designer - New components enable you to add tables, wait screens, and splash screens to your user interface.
• Improved preprocessor support for device fragmentation - Develop code for any number of devices with a single code base. You can also import projects from Antenna and J2MEPolish without losing your preprocessor coding.
• Edit generated code - Guarded blocks are now more flexible, enabling you to customize code generated by the Visual Mobile Designer.
• Improved emulator support - You can now easily add custom emulators to the IDE.
