Crash Reporting Unit
Introduction
House Bill 501, enacted by the General Assembly in the 2005 Legislative Session, approved as of July 1, 2005, disbanded the DMVS
and transferred the responsibility for issuing driver's licenses and maintaining driving records to the Department of Driver Services (DDS) and the
responsibility of the statewide repository for Georgia Uniform Motor Vehicle Accident Reports (GUMVAR) to GDOT. The current crash reporting system
and entire staff have been transferred to GDOT, but the unit continues to reside in Conyers, Georgia as before.
Requesting Copies of Crash Reports
Please direct requests for copies of crash reports directly to the GDOT Crash Reporting Unit located at the address below. There
is a fee of $5 for a copy of each crash report requested.

Requesting Crash Data
Please direct requests for crash data directly to the GDOT Safety Management Section located at the address below. Requests for crash data include any information
related to crashes outside of a copy of the actual crash report itself. More specifically this also includes requests for historical data or listings of crashes at specific locations.
