Changing info on People Search

How can I change my information on the dental school's People Search?

Go to the school's Faculty and Staff page. (The button for this page is located on the school's Home page at the top, right corner.) At the top of the page are links to Staff Central and Faculty Central. Choose whichever is appropriate and then choose the first link "...Update System." This will take you into your profile.
*Note: You do not have capability to alter your department name, title or address. This data is maintained by the dental school's Human Resource office.

PowerPoint Text Tips

Text formatting for Microsoft Word also works in PowerPoint. If you are not a frequent user of Word, these handy tips might be news to you -

Insert the Copyright and Trademark Symbols © ™ ®

To insert the copyright symbol, type (c). To insert the Trademark symbol type (tm). To insert the registered symbol type (r).

Insert Blank Lines with No Bullets

To insert a blank line that is not preceded by a bullet point, don't press the Enter key, press Shift+Enter.

Easily Changing from Caps to Lower Case (or Vice Versa)

If you have text that is in the wrong case, select the text, and then click Shift+F3 until it changes to the case style that you like. Clicking Shift+F3 toggles the text case between ALL CAPS, lower case, and Initial Capital styles. You'll be surprised how often you will use this.

Photoshop Scratch Disk Full?

If Photoshop runs like molasses or runs out of memory, your scratch disk may be full. Check under Edit > Preferences > Plug-ins & Scratch Disks to see which disk(s) you have specified as scratch disks. By default, your start-up disk is the first and often the only specified scratch disk and it’s generally the fullest disk partition. By naming some other, less busy disk or partition as the first scratch disk, you can often speed up the program and make it more crash proof. It’s also easier to check and defragment a disk that’s not the system disk.
