Chicago, situated along the southern shoreline of Lake Michigan, is often called the 'Windy City'. The area of Chicago was fist discovered by the Europeans in the end of 18 century, but only in 1833 it became a town.

Chicago gained its fame in 1930s, during Great Depression, when it became America's centre of illegal business. Gangsters, mafia's wars, contraband guns and alcohol have been Chicago's synonyms for many years.
Nowadays, Chicago with its city parks and skyscrapers is a big cosmopolitan city, one of the most quintessentially American cities in the United States. Sears Tower in Chicago is North America's tallest building. Chicago is also known as the birthplace of the blues. Chicago is also an industrial centre of Great Lakes district.
