The Pregnancy & Newborn Health Education CenterSM at the March of Dimes provides information and referral services for the general public and professionals.
Information specialists, with masters’ degrees in various health fields, answer questions about preconception health, pregnancy, childbirth, genetics and birth defects. The specialists use a staffed medical library, online database subscriptions, and current medical journals to obtain up-to-date information. The information and referral services are free and confidential.
Among the services available to professionals are the following:
- Information that can be faxed to the professional’s office for review and discussion with patients
- Free samples of March of Dimes patient education materials to review before ordering
- Free catalog of continuing education modules for registered nurses and certified nurse-midwives
For the public, the March of Dimes provides evidence-based information that complements education offered by health care providers.
