Headquartered in Clovis, California, Pelco is not only one of the largest
employers in Central California, but is also the world’s largest video security
equipment manufacturer.
Although founded many years earlier in Southern California, the company
recognizes the acquisition by current owners in Clovis on June 1, 1987, as the
beginning of the “new” Pelco. At that time the company was not an industry
leader, so the goal of the new owners was for Pelco to become the best supplier
of video security equipment in the industry. In order to do that, they realized
that first there had to be a huge transformation in the company’s corporate
culture. One of its first steps was to immediately design a number of programs
for achieving 100% Customer Satisfaction and to initiate employee performance
incentives based not on quantity, but on quality.
It took Pelco less than two years to turn things around, and by 1992 the company
had won its first top-supplier award within the security industry – and has
been winning annually ever since. Pelco has also won numerous community and
state awards for business excellence, including Employer of the Year in 1998
from the State of California. Recently, Pelco was honored in the Congressional
Record as an Exemplary Company for its outstanding service and reputation
throughout the Central Valley and the Nation.
During Pelco's first fifteen years under new ownership, growth has been
thirty-fold, adding hundreds of new jobs with each expansion.
Pelco also has facilities in New York, which allow it to compete more
effectively on the East Coast. Recently the company opened additional sales and
training offices in Las Vegas, Nevada, The Netherlands, Europe, South America
and Singapore.
Pelco has an extensive customer base, selling its more than 4,500 finished
products through a network of dealers throughout the United States and in over
130 countries. With the company’s products in more than 1 million locations
worldwide, wherever you find video surveillance equipment the odds of it being
a Pelco system are quite good, with the Statue of Liberty in New York being one
of the most well recognized installations.
