The Peaks and Plains afford magnificent and varied countryside to delight walkers, cyclists and nature lovers. The choices of terrain ranges from flat lands of the Cheshire plain to steep mountainous slopes of the Pennines. You can visit the only remaining silk museum in the UK and watch practical demonstrations on hand looms in the nearby Victorian silk mill - remnants of Macclesfied's past. You may visit the famous Jodrell Bank radio telescope, working science museum and planetarium. Or investigate the ever expanding restoration of Style mill and parkland. If your interest is visiting stately homes and gardens then you could not have a wider choice. A recent survey found that one in eight of all UK garden visits are to Cheshire's stately homes and gardens.
