The
name Saskatchewan comes from the Cree word "kisiskatchewanisipi"
which means "swift flowing river."
The
Province of Saskatchewan is situated in the Canadian West. Half the province
is covered by forest, one-third is improved farmland in the southern Great
Plains and parklands, and one-eighth is fresh water, mostly in northern
region. Saskatchewan has an impressive variety of colour and landscape
ventures in the heart of Canada. This land of 100,000 lakes and rivers
provides an abundance of outdoor activities, be it water recreation or
walking tours which is an enjoyable way to explore. Campgrounds and RV
Parks offer a variety of amenities, finding just the right spot masked
in prairie coulees, among rippling creeks and still lakes. Just the right
place to get in touch with Canada's wildlife, listen to the howl of a
wolf on a quiet northern night, a lone antelope leaping across the grasslands,
the awesome spectacle of fall migration filling the skies with hundreds
of geese.
Horseback tours and cowboy adventures thrive in the south and central
grasslands. Packages offer everything from trail rides, to horse-drawn
wagon treks and authentic ranch vacations. Horseback riding in Saskatchewan
is a way of life. Be part of a genuine adventure, choosing your own path
as you explore unspoiled terrain and experience the traditional cowboy
lifestyle. Guided horseback trips take you through some of our province’s
most scenic backcountry in settings that change from rolling, grass-covered
hills and coulees to the lush aspen and boreal forests further north.
Abundant wildlife viewing opportunities perhaps even with a horse-drawn
wagon. At some guest ranches, you can even participate in a cattle drive,
with licensed outfitters offering everything from world-class lodges to
rustic cabins. Truly a memorable experience. Discover a real winter wilderness
experience, with never-ending acres of open land. Among 10,000 kilometres
of groomed snowmobiling trails that span throughout the province. A wintry
excursion is as infinite as the people are warm and gracious.

range, spend a quiet day at the beach or even fly over picturesque lakes
to renowned fishing camps. An ideal adventure experience awaits you; get
