Highlights

U.S. Response to South Asia Earthquake
Under Secretary Hughes led a Presidential delegation of U.S. corporate leaders to Pakistan to survey earthquake damaged areas.The U.S. responded immediately and generously to Pakistan's call for assistance following the tragic and devastating earthquake of October 8. Our response has been consistent with our humanitarian values and our deep commitment to Pakistan. The U.S. has pledged a total of $510 million in earthquake relief and reconstruction efforts to assist the people of Pakistan and to support Pakistani government relief efforts. This total includes $300 million in humanitarian relief and reconstruction assistance, $110 million in military support for relief operations, and at least $100 million anticipated from U.S. private contributions. fact sheet | more
