Clerk of the Courts Howard Forman, elected to the Clerks
office in November 2000, was born in Pittsburgh, PA in 1946 and moved to
Florida in 1955. He attended the University of Miami and the New York Institute
of Finance.
Prior to being elected Clerk, Forman served on the Hallandale City
Commission, the Broward County Commission, and in the State Senate. He has
repeatedly earned leadership positions while in office, including being named
Chair of the County Commission, elected Chair of the Broward Legislative
Delegation, and appointed Chair of the Senate Transportation Committee
(1990-1992), Senate Health Care Committee (1993-1994), Joint Legislative
Auditing Committee (1993-1994) and Joint Everglades Oversight Committee
(1996-1997 and 1998-1999).
Formans work on behalf of the people of Florida has been
honored by numerous organizations, including Broward County Democratic
Executive Committee, Broward County AFL-CIO, Broward County Sierra Club, Early
Childhood Development Association, Autism Society of America, Florida Consumer
Action Network, American Lung Association, and numerous others.
Forman is married to Susan Schwartzman of Charleston, S.C. Forman
has two children and two step-children.
