Search Techniques
There are a few basic techniques that will help you improve the search results
from almost any search engine.
Quotation
Using quotation marks around your search words will tell the search engine to
look for both words in the article, such as "cable
modem". If you were to search for cable modem without using
the quotations, the engine would be looking independently for each word 'cable'
and 'modem' which might give you results with articles about modems or modem
settings for regular dial-up connections.
Combining
with '+'
Another technique is to add a '+' between the words to combine the two words
as part of the search. Using cable+modem
would give you similar results as if you were using the quotations.
Combining the techniques can help
you narrow the results even more. By using cable+modem+speed
you can significantly narrow the results to only show articles with all of the
words listed in the article. If you had searched without using '+' to combine
the words, you would get results from articles that may only have 'speed' or
'modem' listed, thus confusing you with too many articles to choose from.
