Project ALERT is a corps of more than 155 retired
federal, state, and local law-enforcement professionals who volunteer
their time and expertise as unpaid consultants to the national, law-enforcement
community. |
The average team member is retired after working more than 20 years within
a federal, state, or local, law-enforcement agency and, though no longer
a sworn officer, has not lost his or her investigative expertise.
Project ALERT Representatives participate in a variety of assignments
including missing-child case evaluations, technical meetings with law-enforcement
personnel to discuss resources, and community-awareness initiatives. Project
ALERT representatives are trained by the National Center for Missing &
Exploited Children (NCMEC).
All travel arrangements and costs associated with travel and resource
materials are coordinated and paid for by NCMEC.
This free consulting service is available to requesting agencies that
need
- an emergency response team of seasoned investigators, critical resources,
and additional manpower to resolve recent or long-term, missing-child
cases
- training on various aspects of missing- and exploited-child cases
- experienced public speakers to make presentations on child-safety
issues and prevention strategies
