Answers
Can I renew my SSL Certificate
without a challenge phrase?
Yes. You can renew your SSL Certificate without
your challenge phrase, but you will need to generate a new Certificate
Signing Request (CSR).
When should I start the renewal
process?
VeriSign recommends renewing at least 30 days
prior to expiration to prevent a lapse in service. You can start
the renewal process up to 90 days prior to expiration and
renew for a 1-, 2-, or 3-year period from the previous expiration date.
Consider a 2- or 3-year validity period to cut management time and lower
total cost of ownership.
How often will I need to renew
my SSL Certificates?
VeriSign offers SSL Certificates with 1- and
2- year validity period options. Many administrators purchase 2-year
certificates so they only have to renew their certificates every other
year.
What is the status of my renewal
order?
You can use the order number provided in your
confirmation email to check
your order status.
How do I renew a certificate
if my information has changed?
You can change the corporate and technical
contacts for your renewal certificate during the renewal enrollment
process. If the Distinguished Name for an existing certificate has changed,
you will need to buy additional rather than renew to update the information.
Not sure? Learn how to Change
Distinguished Name.
Can I renew my SSL Certificate
by email?
No, you cannot renew an SSL Certificate by
email. Start
the renewal process.

base.
