Lenice, Merry, Nunnally

A chain of three lakes in the lower Crab Creek Wildlife Area.  Located near Beverly in the Columbia Basin, these lakes were formed as the ground water level rose when irrigation transformed the area.  The Lakes were rehabbed in the spring of 2000.  Merry was not stocked at that time.  These are selective fishery lakes which open on March 1st and close Oct. 31.  Click here for a fishing report.

Dry Falls

Formed during the last ice age when an ice dam blocking the Columbia River near the present site of Grand Coulee Dam broke, sending huge volumes of water through what is now Central Washington.  The waterfall which scooped out Dry Falls was over 3 miles wide and 400 feet high.  An interpretive center overlooking the lake provides a fascinating look at this event.  Dry falls is one of the top public trout lakes in Washington and is under selective fishery regulations.  The season opens the last Saturday in April and closes Nov. 30.

Lenore

Located north of the town of Soap Lake, Lenore is a highly alkaline lake which was stocked with alkaline tolerant Lahontan Cutthroat in the late 1970s.  Lenore is a selective fishery lake with special regulations allowing only catch and release angling from March 1 to May 31.  From June 1 to Nov. 30 the limit is one fish.  Lahontan Cutthroat grow large and fish over 5 pounds are common.

Chopaka

One of the most scenic of Washington's quality lakes, Chopaka is located near Loomis in the northern portion of central Washington.  Well know to fly fish fishers for it's Callibaetis hatch.  The illegal introduction of bass has decreased the quality of the trout fishery. Fly fishing only.  Open the last Saturday in April  to Oct. 31.

Quail

A small lake in the potholes area near Moses lake.  Fly fishing only, catch and release.  Open year around.  Not many good reports over the last few years.
