GIVE THE GIFT OF ROSES
Tips for giving roses in the right colors for the right occasions
Everyone loves to receive roses, no matter what the occasion. So, whether you're trying to find the right flowers for an anniversary celebration, a birthday party, or a 'just because' gift, you can never go wrong with a bouquet of roses. And, while most people give red roses, since they are the most common color to find and symbolize love, there are a variety of rose colors to choose from, and each of the colors help you to send a different message with your gift of flowers. Giving roses in different colors also makes for more unique presentation, which will make your recipient feel even more special, since it takes a little bit of effort to find multi-colored roses.
Red roses, of course, symbolize romantic love, but these flowers can also denote respect and courage. So, not only can people give red roses to their spouse or significant other, but these roses are also appropriate for a parent or in-law, or anyone in your life that you especially admire for their bravery and leadership. Deep red roses represent beauty, so combining the two shades can make for a lovely and meaningful bouquet.
White roses represent innocence or purity. These roses can also be given to a spouse to symbolize the purity and goodness of the relationship, but can also be given to children during birthday celebrations or special accomplishments (i.e. a dance or piano recital or academic accomplishment). Red and white roses in combination mean unity, so this combination is also ideal for weddings, or to give in addition to an anniversary gift.
When giving roses to friends, yellow roses are most appropriate. These roses symbolize the beauty of friendship, freedom, joy or gladness. You can give yellow roses to help cheer a friend up, congratulate them on an accomplishment, or simply as a reminder that the friendship is valuable.
Saying 'thank you', 'I appreciate you', or 'I'm an admirer' is best expressed with peach or dark pink roses. Light pink roses, like yellow roses, symbolize friendship, as well as grace and gentility. These roses also look wonderful with red roses, and send the message that you appreciate, love, and respect the recipient. Peach roses are also given to denote sympathy. Lavender roses are use to symbolize enchantment, and look great with pink and peach roses.
Of course, if there's someone in your life that fits all these descriptions, a multi-colored rose bouquet is a wonderful gift or gift addition, and the arrangement is beautiful. You may also want to include a card describing the rose colors and their meanings, so your loved one will know just how special they are to you. Red and white roses are the most common to find; you can look for them at a local drug store or grocery market. For more exotic colors, your local nursery or florist will most likely have what you're looking for.
