Interior Effort to Restore
Hurricane-Damaged Beaches

| The Department of the Interior's Minerals Management Service has signed an agreement with Collier County, Florida to provide up to 673,000 cubic yards of federal sand from the Outer Continental Shelf to restore 8.6 miles of beach damaged during the 2004-2005 hurricane seasons.
|
|
"I am proud to say that this is the fifth beach restoration agreement MMS has signed with the State of Florida," said MMS Director Johnnie Burton. "Helping to restore Florida’s beautiful shoreline following the devastating hurricanes of 2004 and 2005 is a shining example of government serving the public interest."
