State Traffic Safety & Design Engineer
The Office of Traffic Safety & Design operates under the guidance of the Director of Operations. The Office of
Traffic Safety and Design is responsible for the following:
- Traffic engineering policies statewide
- Traffic signal permits on state routes
- Programming, concept and design of operational projects
- Design of traffic signals, signs, pavement markings and intelligent transportation systems
- Approval and design of supplemental signs on interstate highways
- Administration of the LOGO Sign Program
- Management of Statewide Railroad Safety Program
- Management of Right of Way Access Program (commercial driveway and other encroachment permits)
- Safety Management System & vehicle crash analysis
- Red Light Running Monitoring System (RMS) grants
