In 19 trips, Secretary Rice traveled 240,181 miles and visited 49 countries. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will travel to Indonesia and Australia January 7-12, 2006. Her visit to Indonesia will focus on support for Indonesia’s democratic development. In Australia, the Secretary will hold a Ministerial session of the U.S.-Japan-Australia Trilateral Strategic Dialogue with her Australian and Japanese counterparts.

    Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings will co-host the U.S. University Presidents Summit on International Education January 5-6, 2006, in Washington, DC.

The Quartet welcomes the upcoming Palestinian Legislative Council elections as a positive step toward consolidation of Palestinian democracy and the goal of a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
