Georgia 400 Construction Area Map

Overview

On April 7, 2005, the Georgia DOT began a construction project on Georgia 400 (State Route 400). Approximately 6 miles of roadway, northbound and southbound, will be impacted on Georgia 400 between I-85 and I-285. This project is scheduled for completion in late summer 2005.

The project includes asphalt paving. Work crews will also install cable barriers in the medians of north- and southbound lanes, just north of I-85, to improve safety.

Impact on Travel

Traffic delays are to be expected. Please allow additional travel time and/or choose alternate routes during this construction project. There will be no construction during major holidays or in inclement weather.

Construction Schedule

The Department has limited lane closures to week nights and weekends only. Lane closures should be expected from 9:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m., Monday through Friday, Saturday and Sunday night.

For motorist safety, the following exit and entrance ramps along Georgia 400 will be temporarily closed while crews pave roadway.

  • Lenox Road
  • Glenridge Connector
  • Interstate 285
  • Sydney Marcus

During nighttime lane closures, one lane designated for Cruise Card holders will remain open and at least half of the toll booth lanes will remain open.

Safety

The Georgia DOT is dedicated to providing safe conditions for both motorists and workers. As with any construction project, motorists should slowdown, be alert and pay special attention to all work zone signs, pavement markings and traffic control devices. The Georgia DOT urges all drivers to use care when traveling through areas where crews are working, not just for the safety of our workers but for the safety of the motorists.
