Features of the Toshiba 52hm84 DLP
Television
TALEN
Toshiba Advanced Light Engine is proprietary
light engine technology, designed and built by Toshiba, for Toshiba.
TALEN utilizes advanced optics, and step-up TI HD2+ DLP Chip, to create
Toshiba’s outstanding picture quality. .
HD2+ DLP Chip
HD2+ is the next generation of the HD2 DLP Chip.
This is a .8" chip with 1280 x 720 mirrors that creates a 720p high
definition picture. The Plus version fills in the dimples, or vias,
in the mirrors to avoid stray light, and increases both brightness and
contrast. It also utilizes double mirror speed for a 9-bit system that
significantly reduces any dithering noise. The result is a bright, deep,
clear, true to life image. Benefit: TI HD2+ DMD DLP chip offers a significantly
cleaner image by filling in the small indentations (Via's) in the mirrors
resulting in an impressive color corrected contrast ratio (2200:1) at
1100 ANSI Lumens.
PixelPure
Most Toshiba 2004 16:9 HD fixed pixel displays
utilize a proprietary digital video processing system called PixelPure.
This system is actually a suite of up to eight different digital video
processing circuits that combine to create a consistently clearer, deeper,
and more accurate picture. Used in Toshiba Plasma, LCD, and DLP™ TVs,
it also allows Toshiba to have consistent picture quality across display
technologies. Benefit: PixelPure is the key to Toshiba's fixed picture
quality, as it is the processing that makes the picture.
Radiance Lamp
Toshiba DLP Projection TVs utilize a 120-Watt
DC lamp. In addition to exceptional light purity and reduced flicker,
this lamp also has two user-friendly features. High Brightness and Low
Power Modes allow the user to choose 120-Watt Mode for daytime with
ambient room light, and 100-Watt Mode for nighttime in a dark room,
to extend the lamp life. This lamp also has the unique Instant Restart
feature, allowing the TV to be turned on immediately after shutdown,
unlike other lamp-based TVs.
TheaterFine HD Screen
TheaterFine HD screens utilize a double lenticular
(two-lens) configuration, combining a Fresnel and fine .52mm pitch Blackstripe
screen. The screen is tinted for increased contrast, and we have incorporated
a surface layer diffuser, which concentrates the tinting on a thinner
layer of the surface of the screen. Benefit: Sets equipped with Toshiba’s
TheaterFine HD Screen offer a high resolution, high brightness screen
with a wide 160-degree viewing angle for use in any room.
CableClear DNR+
Designed to optimize poor NTSC signals from antenna
or cable, this new video noise reduction system eliminates video noise
("snow") for a clean crisp image. Benefit: CableClear utilizes the Digital
3D/YC Comb Filter to compare frames and determine the existence and
extent of video noise. It then applies the needed amount of digital
video noise reduction, and the appropriate sharpness adjustment to keep
the picture clear. This feature now works on RF, composite and S-Video
inputs, and can be selected by input.
HD Window POP
This advanced system can accept 480i, 480p,
720p, and 1080i signals, and can even display 4:3 and 16:9 images on
the screen at the same time. The split screen function allows the user
to increase or decrease the size of the POP boxes, making one larger
than the other. The MultiWindow system enables the consumer to continue
to view the main picture in a large POP box while viewing Favorite Channels,
or channel scanning in the other smaller POP boxes.
Benefit: HD Window POP (picture on picture) is a versatile and convenient
feature for the age of HD as it lets the user watch two programs simultaneously,
even HD sources.
Double-Speed 9-bit System with Enhanced Algorithms
for Video Noise Elimination
DLP (Digital Light Processing) Projector
These projectors use a digital mocro-mirror
(DMD) device to create images, which are then enlarged to fill a screen.
The DMD chip has upwards of 1.3 million tiny mirrors that are used to
create pictures much the way pixels are used with CRT based devices.
Since this is a reflective technology, DLP will typically have higher
ANSI lumens and Contrast Ratios. A Color Wheel is also used to help
create a full palette of colors.
Benefit: DLP projectors provide a premium picture quality via the latest
technology in a small lightweight package.
Total Audio Wattage: 40W
StableSound®
This feature maintains television volume within
a preset range regardless of the source signal. Benefit: Eliminates
the annoyance of normal program volume being followed immediately by
extremely loud commercial messages or drastic volume fluctuations while
changing channels.
SRS® WOW
SRS® WOW technology takes the performance of
the television's existing speakers to a whole new level, offering the
consumer superior sound quality with no additional peakers required,
SRS® WOW consists of three separate sound expanding systems, which work
together to extract"buried" highs and lows. The three systems are, SRS®
3D, TruBass, and FOCUS. SRS® 3D creates a three dimensional sound field
from just two speakers, thus giving the listener the feeling of hearing
a multi speaker surround sound system. TruBass produces a powerful,
yet low, frequency sound by utilizing a process called psychoacoustics.
From only two small speakers, TruBass will give the effect of an expensive
sub bass woofer that will leave the listener amazed by the quality of
the sound. FOCUS was added to direct the energy from the speakers of
the television set in a vertical direction up towards the listener’s
ears. The addition of FOCUS means that there is virtually no loss of
sound from the speaker’s position on the bottom panel near the floor,
which achieves a clear, undistorted range of audio. Benefit: A more
enveloping sound with enhanced bass and better dialog reproduction.
Separate Woofers and Screen Height Tweeters
Four-Item Illuminated Universal Remote with
DVD Control
For easy operation in a dark living room or home
theater environment, Toshiba's ergonomically designed Universal Remote
comes with Fully Illuminated Buttons. As an additional convenience,
these remotes are pre-programmed to operate all functions of the TV
and key functions of most Cable Boxes, VCRs and DVD players.
Tri-Lingual On-screen Display
All TV functions can be easily operated using
the remote control to access Toshiba's advanced on-screen display. This
full-featured system can be operated in English, French or Spanish.
By using the four cursor buttons on the remote control, your favorite
features or settings are only a click away.
Benefit: Allows viewer to read menu in any one of three different languages
to ensure user-friendly programming.
Sleep Timer
The Sleep Timer allows you to fall asleep watching
TV and have the TV turn itself off up to three hours later (in 10-minute
intervals).
Benefit: Allows the viewer to set the television to shut off after a
preset amount of time.
HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface)
High Definition Multimedia Interface is the next generation of DVI.
It includes the DVI digital video signal, and multi-channel digital
audio signals on a single cable. Most Toshiba 2004 Integrated HD and
HD Monitor models include HDMI™. Benefit: This single cable connection
ensures that all signals remain in their pure digital form and secure
by use of High Definition Copy Protection (HDCP) regardless of signal
output resolution.
