Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will travel to Indonesia and Australia January 7-12, 2006. Her visit to Indonesia will focus on support for Indonesia’s democratic development. In Australia, the Secretary will hold a Ministerial session of the U.S.-Japan-Australia Trilateral Strategic Dialogue with her Australian and Japanese counterparts.

The United States extends deep and heartfelt sympathy to His Highness President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed al-Nahyan, the al-Maktoum family, and the people of the United Arab Emirates, on the death of His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid al-Maktoum.


    2005: Year in Photos -- For Secretary Rice and the men and women of the U.S. Department of State, 2005 was a year of strengthening alliances and defending principles in support of security, democracy, and prosperity. 

The U.S.-Afghan Women’s Council promotes public-private partnerships between U.S. and Afghan institutions and mobilizes private sector resources to help Afghan women. The council recently cited accomplishments in the areas of political participation, economic opportunities, media, health, and education.
