BIG BEND - SPECIALTY TRIPS Wine Tasting
An Epicurean Adventure of Fine Food and
Wine - our 10th Annual Trip!
"Wilderness is
something other than our own" -- Henry David
Thoreau
Many people believe river trips and
outdoor adventure are synonymous with Spam, Beanee Weenees and white bread. For
years, we at Far Flung Adventures have been saying that being outdoors doesn't
mean you can't have the finest cuisine. To prove it, we are hosting our tenth
annual "wine and dine" river trip. Join us as we float through one of Big
Bend's spectacular canyons where our guides will prepare fabulous meals while,
Greg Bruni, winemaker for Llano Estacado (pronounced yah-no) will talk about
the varieties of wine we will enjoy. Simply put, this will be the best camp
chow you've ever tasted! Here's the agenda:
Should you choose to arrive the night before our departure
date (most folks do), click
here for lodging suggestions. This will be a busy weekend in Big
Bend, so make your reservations early! Should you have questions about the Big
Bend area, please call our office at 800-839-7238 or email us at:

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 25: Departure Day. We'll meet
at the FFOC office in Study Butte at 8:00 am to pack our gear and leave for the
river. Our journey today takes us into true backcountry wilderness. We'll stop
along the way and enjoy a specially prepared river lunch. Our overnight camp
will be set up in the canyon, so while you take the afternoon to hike, explore
or just relax our staff will prepare a formal dinner. Wine of course, will be
plentiful.
SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 26: This day finds us deeper
in the canyon where the walls can rise up to 1500 feet. We'll stop for another
gourmet river lunch before our take-out, mid-afternoon. Returning to our office
in Terlingua, you'll have time to check back into your motel for showers before
dinner. There are a number of good restaurants in the area, so ask our staff
and they will be happy to point you in the right direction.
ABOUT THE COOKS: Our guides are masters at
preparing outdoor cuisine. From appetizers and salads to the main
entrée, you will be amazed at what can come out of a wilderness kitchen.
You won't be able to refuse our Dutch oven dessert creations!
Price:
$325/person plus Texas sales tax at 7.75%. A $100/person,
non-refundable deposit is required at time of booking. Final balance due
14 days prior to departure date.
